I'm pretty disappointed in the pricing. I had wanted to believe it was genuinely about insuring these shows (especially the Just Charles shows - since the Andre 3000 thing is relatively last minute) had a dedicated audience from start to finish. I could easily see the Just Charles show becoming unenjoyable if there was a constant churn in the back of the room. One of my few less than stellar experiences at Big Ears was a Bill Frisell show in the balcony of the Bijou. After about 30 minutes it was non-stop people coming and going. You just couldn't enjoy the show at all. But $45 and $65 is a pretty big money grab on top of their ticket prices. I know the difference isn't probably meaningful to the average Big Ears attendee, but I would have viewed $20-25 as being more about preserving the concert experience. I'll probably pass on both.

Literary adds!
Hanif Abdurraqib - Friday at 2:15pm Ross Gay - no time listed yet
Nothing on the app yet. The time for Abdurraqib is on the website under his artist page. Not seen Gay, but Abdurraqib is definitely worth the time if you have a gap in your schedule.

Hanif's reading two years ago was fantastic and I'm really excited about his new one. One of my favorite American writers, I've taught his book about A Tribe Called Quest to high school seniors the last four years.
Artist adds: RB Morris & the New Band (10 PM Thurs at Jackson) Senryu (4:30 Fri at The Standard)

OK, garageland and everyone else, of course, here is the thing I mentioned.
It's mostly local. This will be the first New Romantics show in about five years and the album they put out last year is phenomenal and they never really did an "Album release show."

This will be the Saturday of Big Ears. Not in downtown, but it's just right across the river. Multiple good businesses involved.
Celebrate Days Being Longer Than Nights With All Of The Businesses On Sevier Avenue! What a great excuse to throw a Saturday Street Party!!! There will be specials, prizes, vendors, music, family activities, giveaways, and WOZO Radio will be there!

Where's more info you miscreant?
I copied that from the Facebook event. I know nothing beyond that. Like yourself, I just know most spots on Sevier Ave rule.

Brother and I will be at Sunday afternoon Andre set! Bit steep price but seeing it in such an intimate venue is gonna be magical... anyone else go for the ticketed events today?

I'm going to the Thursday andre show. I wonder how it went.

I just went to the link and tried to purchase some tickets to a couple Andre shows. All appeared to have tickets available, so I'm thinking it might not have met their expectations.

Dang that's wild. I wonder if they'll end up selling them separately (to non ticket holders, I mean) in the end.

So it begins. Harvest Time moved back to 1:30 (from 2:00) and shortened to an hour. Interestingly, that last Andre set Sunday at the Point has been bumped UP to 90 minutes (the rest all still at 75)
Kronos farewell tour career-spanning set. Even though I've seen them several times it's a can't-miss by my book.
Agreed here. I’d do Kronos for sure as you’re more likely than not getting another shot. If I wasn’t coming from SC3 and running to Eli Winter, I’d be there.

Oh for sure Kronos is winning. Big Ears tends to hit a lot of jazz and modern classical and I'm 1000% team modern classical. Just hate that I have to make the choice.
Side note: if anyone knows about a cheap Saturday ticket, let me know. I feel like a coworkers husband might love a cheap day at big Ears.
