Haven't voted on this in a couple days. Everything left is good but I watched Child's Play for the first time recently and it was much better than I expected. They gotta make him a real vicious piece of shit since he's not physically imposing at all. Has to find inventive and brutal ways to kill people. Looking forward to the later ones where they lean heavily into camp/having Jennifer Tilly.

Have to go Hellrasier on this one. Sleepy Hollow is a very fresh take on an old story, and its top notch Tim Burton. Meanwhile Hellraiser is great. But its clunky, and its not in my Halloween rotation. Also, its not even the best Hellraiser movie.

Cabin in the Woods. Love it, but dont see it as a spooky season movie. More just what it is, a satire and deconstruction of the formulaic horror genre.
i'm parking my initial votes the past few rounds in Nightmare on Elm Street. i just hate dream shit in movies and tv, aside from Twin Peaks.
Weirdly, this is the one cheesy '80s-spawned slasher series that really, really fucks me up. I saw Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors on USA (meaning all the really bad shit was cut out) way back in the day, and I couldn't sleep for a week.

I have really vivid, realistic dreams that sometimes I wake up from and can't differentiate between the dream and real life. Nightmare on Elm St is top tier for me because of that.
Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X easily the worst ones. Probably go 4>6>2 for the top 3 spots. Hard to really rank the rest because they're all very stupid and mileage is going to vary depending on what kind of stupid you prefer. I actually rewatched 3 last night and that's a pretty wild choice for the top spot, I'd have it near the bottom, even though no film character has ever deserved to die more than Shelly.

Heck, forgot about X in my list. Its the worst for sure. I love Jason Goes to Hell. I love the Evil Dead connection, and the Freddy connection at the end. I also love the character of Creighton Duke so very much.
