Just hope they’re able to come back in ‘24 without selling to LiveNation/Goldenvoice. This festival is a miracle so I don’t mind a year off if it doesn’t die.
so who were the 2 apparent big headliners they were not able to secure which apparently led to investors backing out? QOTSA and MV seemed like shoo-ins.

Part of me wants to rollover into 2024 since I have to assume passes will be more expensive when they go back on sale, but part of me also realizes that they might not come back in 2024 at all.

Maybe Bjork? We should know one next year. If they had both of those on the line though, GA would have been like 500 bucks

When Phil sold Spaceland to Live Nation he kept Desert Daze. Seems he still wasnt that desperate to try going that route. Even FYF knew it needed help and if Sean Carlson wasnt a creeper who knows how that fest would be right now.
And yeah, last week the "text of doom" was in Reference to another more recent meeting Phil and co had with financials. They obviously said no.
Between Postal Service/Death Cab and Peter Gabriel, Desert Daze weekend this year was already booked up for me anyway. Maybe I'm just being optimistic but the announcement is a lot less gloomy than all the doomer memes leading up to it. Fingers crossed for 2024!

been a tough few years for sure so this can definitely be a good thing. maryland deathfest took 2023 off and they're coming back pretty strong for 2024. hopefully psycho vegas and desert daze are back in full form next year.

Welp it was fun while it lasted. Hope it comes back next year but not holding my breath.
I'm bummed that Melody's Echo Chamber is opening for Brian Jonestown Massacre in L.A. I'd love to see Melody's again but can't bring myself to sit through another BJM show and it's not worth getting a hotel to just watch the opener. I'd be down for seeing Melody's and Blonde Redhead in Riverside but have tix for Slowdive that night. I hope Melody's adds a San Diego date.
Anyway, glad I got the Slowdive tix plus Black Angels/Dandy Warhols in SD earlier that week, but would've been nice seeing all of them at the lake...
Well see ya fellow nerds in 2024 if this happens then. Sad, by far my favorite fest the last several years so I hope they find a way to resurrect next year but we can’t make the trip from TN just for daze in the city.

All the big news for Daze always happens when I'm on a business trip!
Well, it's over and done with for 2023. Hopefully they can bounce back better than ever next year. Like others said, they don't have to have HUGE headliners to make it work. It was always the talent in the undercard and the overall vibe that made this festival special.
Maybe they'll move it back out to the desert for '24? Time will tell. Only reason I'm not too bummed is that I was probably only gonna be able to attend 1 day this time around, and I don't have to make significant travel plans in order to go.
