So I''m actually planning on doing this. Probably next fall. I'm doing some research. I had to go to the fucking downtown library because they were the only place that had a book I wanted. My usual "source" could not find it for me. He's (husband) going to be my sag wagon driver for support. Poor guy.
I'm thinking about making it count for something. Besides me just working my ass off and having fun. Do you guys think I could raise more for charity? Like if I survive and ride all 442 miles people would give me money? And I could fly a flag on my bike for causes. No anti Trump though. As much as I want to. I don't want to get murdered on the trace. I will be riding in deep Trump territory.
If I did try to raise money for a charity, which one would be a good idea?

Welcome your input on this.
Would donate.
In terms of causes...it's not anti-Trump, but abortion funds need help these days.
If you're staying away from anything that might in any way get you murdered, there's always cancer research and treatment, because fuck cancer.
If there is anyone on here that lives in or has lived in Jackson MS, I have questions.
i just so happen to live in Jackson now lol
Sweet! So have you driven much on the part of the trace that goes through Jackson? I understand that you don’t want to bike it during AM and PM rush hour. So I will have to time it right when I go through. But I also hear there is a biking trail that can skirt some of that. Know anything about that?

I honestly haven’t driven any of it in my time here, but I’ve driven some of it around here in the past and have driven it some in Natchez as well. however, I can try to get out there and scope it out some for you in terms of bike lanes and such. shoot me a DM and we can exchange numbers to figure something out!

Awesome. You have a year to find out. So take your time.
It's my understanding, there are no bike lanes on the whole trace. There are none on this end in Nashville. Bikes are allowed to ride in the middle of the road. But I would rather not die at mile marker 443.

Planning a bike route is such a challenge but so much fun. I'd like to do at least half the us next year. Being able to cross paths next year would be awesome

Very exact mile marker. Why 443?
It’s one mile into the ride. North to South starts at 444 and goes to 0.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
So I’m looking around for an organization I could bike and raise money for. And I read where they are having a Native American Pow Wow right down the street from me at Long Hunter state park this weekend. I do some digging and find this site. naiatn.org/ It is the Native American Indian Association of Tennessee and they are raising money to build a cultural center. Sounds perfect. My big question is, one of their sponsors is Bon Iver. Anyone know why Justin Vernon would sponsor this obscure little known organization in Tennessee?

maybe he's thinking about biking the Natchez Trace and found them in his digging
I would love to bike the trace with Justin. Don’t think that’s it though. Their offices are on Sidco drive. I’m going to stop by sometime and talk to them. I bet they don’t even know who Bon Iver is.

I don’t know a specific connection to that organization, but Justin Vernon and Bon Iver have been huge supporters of Native American rights - Protect Land movements up here in Minnesota / Wisconsin.
When I’ve seen them live, they’ve routinely had various Native American groups included in the set / festival (eg. Iron Boy Singers). He also collaborated with a Native American dance company in one of his music videos:

Didn't think I could like the band more. Damn that's cool.
Let us know when the link goes live, Druid! This is the first time I've read the thread and this sounds super badass.
