I'm gonna be in the minority on this one, but as someone who doesn't have/want/like kids - that's some bullshit
I don't mind the kids. I love that they get to experience the music in a safe space with their folks. I also love it when they take stage, like last year with Dawes. I just wasn't a fan of all the empty kid strollers/wagons/stuff in the limited shade areas. Not cool.

I don’t mind kids either. Not a fan of parents who drag completely uninterested kids to the festival though. (Especially when parents are more interested in beer pier than the music.) Last year there were two ~10 year olds in front of us one of the days that had 0 interest in being at Newport. Parents just left them at their blanket while they went to the beer pier. Kids put up a wall of umbrellas impossible to see around to create their own shade. Then they spent the day playing games on cell phones (with headphones in) and complaining to their parents when they occasional stopped back to check on them.

$270 for this fest (after fees) is still a good deal with LiveNation now cornering the market on music fests and jacking up prices + the state of inflation.
That said… $500 a night for a hotel removes any savings from the tickets themselves…

I like when the Lindas had the littles come up to the stage - that was super cute. Did anyone see the couple at the Harbor Stage who tried to reserve 4 seats in the second row for themselves and their two under age 5 kids? They left all their stuff on the seats and then bailed for 2 sets thinking the seats would be there when they returned. It was ridiculous. And comical.

This would be our first time going with kids (4 year old and 6 month old) and I am taking notes on how not to be an annoying parent.
We’ve been been showing the older one folk fest videos for a year, Brandi Carlile, Paul Simon, etc. (Kid loves Paul Simon, asks me to play Slip Slidin Away on guitar all the time and he was going “Lie lie lie lie lie” along to the Boxer before he could even talk.) I know 4 year olds are capricious and he’ll probably lose interest halfway through the day, but he’s been asking me to take him and I’m gonna deliver dammit.

I love this! As someone who was that 4 year old at a concert with my family, it has instilled my love of music and live shows in me. I think getting them involved in the artist announcements and watching videos and listening to the music around the house is a great way to get them excited and make it more meaningful. And they might be excited for the acts that show up! Kids will always get a bit bored no matter what. Heck - when its super hot and im tired i get bored! I think your kid will have a great time!

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Saw Danielle Ponder open for Neal Francis last night, so good! I know she played the Bike Stage last year, but she's definitely ready for a real stage this year. Great voice and great songs

She’s absolutely wonderful. She was a public defender here in Rochester before she quit to pursue the singing career full time. I don’t know her but the mutual friends we do have all say she’s absolutely wonderful offstage as well.

Yeah I got the impression that she is a genuinely good person, but that's great to hear.
Yeah i saw waitlist immediately as well. A friend said they were able to buy 4 so i suppose they did exist..? Maybe my phone took an extra couple seconds to refresh or something
