my plan is to get in by 630 and secure a solid spot for EITS. not familiar with the stages at all since this is my first time going but gonna aim for pretty far up on either left or right corner of the crowd
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Not sure what time I'm getting there but getting in by 6:30 sounds like the move. I don't remember the app we used for the group chat last year, I know it was one I don't normally use.
is anyone going to james murphy tonite? wondering when to expect him to start spinnin “that wax”
I'll be there! Aiming to get there around 10:30. I'll be the tall guy in a white shirt & orangish/brownish jacket. Hmu if you see me, I'll be rollin' solo.

sweet we’re getting dinner now in south beach but will head after. might not be til like 1130 arrival though. i see doors are at 10 and it’s listed to go til 4. so…. thinking jim will be on late? i’ll be w the gf. outfit is tbd although i plan to wear white pants. we’re both tall, i have brown hair she has blonde.
She does. She soooo does. But Caribou? It's so hard.
ahhh yeah couldn’t remember who she was up against. i’d already decided i wasn’t gonna be able to see her bc we went last night but with Caribou being the conflict it’s a tough draw

I started Thursday night with James Murphy @ Jolene, which was maybe the coolest thing I've ever done. Watching the man work his magic from like 5 feet away was awe-inspiring.
Friday was solid with EITS & Caribou to start...was a little confused at that schedule, but those sets flowed into Fred in a really cool way. I thought that Fred was good & Skrillex was tough, but I guess I'm of the contrarian opinion bc most everyone has said the opposite. Keinemusik was enjoyable from the back of Isotropic (but the front sucked). Then got in plenty of Despacio before catching the first ~30 of Black Coffee, who killed it per usual.
Saturday was my favorite day, starting with Jockstrap & catching some local acts on Grand Central (shout-out Soft Cricket). Then, Caroline Polachek, which was easily my favorite set of the weekend. Everything just clicked; her raw talent, stage production, crowd energy, just everything felt so right and was one of the more satisfying sets I've enjoyed in a while. SBTRKT was a solid way to kill time before Iggy...which DAMN that old man still got it. Definitely the smallest headlining set I've been to at any festival, but the crowd was engaged & he was having fun, and it was all just so quality. Good for Sinopoli for getting Iggy. Then I spent the rest of the night at Despacio...was planning to hit up Grimes & Julie , but Despacio refused to let me leave lol (also, Safety Dance will live rent-free in my head for the rest of my life lol). Caught the back-half of UMO before heading out. A super enjoyable day of music!
Overall, really had fun, way more than I thought I would being a non-EDM guy. Despacio alone is worth the price of admission (and then some), and any good set in addition is just lagniappe. Also digged the new layout this year; removing Outer Space was 100% the move as Mind Melt was so much more room than last year, the bigger Sector 3 slapped although the audio was weaker than it should've been in the back, and I appreciated the upgrades to Sequence. Apparently folks hated the new RC Cola, but I barely got near there so I can't speak to it. Lines were basically non-existent the whole weekend, which is always appreciated, so good on the ops team for keeping things moving.
So here's to iii points 2023. Julie, sorry I missed your set but still, congrats to you, Sinopoli & the team on a great year. I already got my 2024 Prophet Passes.
ALL HAIL DESPACIOO!!!

Great weekend with the boys (+ Rummy 500 & LoveLuckLaughter ). Thoroughly enjoyed the festival pretty much from the moment I walked in until the last second. We danced our asses off. Definitely some acts that I wasn't able to see that I would have loved to.. Tokischa, VTSS, Gorgon City, Joy Orbison to name a few, but not mad at my choices. The only letdown was Fred, we were in the back and people were moving in every different direction and he was talking way too much for me when I was coming up on a roll, but Despacio quickly solved that problem. After totally missing Despacio at Coachella, it was sick being able to close it out both nights. Spent a lot of time at Sector 3 and Sequence which were my favorite stages, unfortunately never made it to Isotropic or some of the smaller stages. Crowd was very friendly and fun. We also had a very nice airbnb with a great foyer for tЯist♡n to sleep in.
Fri: EITS > Coffintexts b2b Sister System > Caribou > Fred (just 15 mins) > Despacio > Skrillex > Jeff Mills > Despacio > Hudson Mohawke & Tiga (great set to end the night) Sat: Jockstrap (one of my most anticipated and loved being on the rail for it) > Two Shell > Caroline Polachek > SBTRKT > Daphni > True Vine + Sister System > Lane 8 > Unknown Mortal Orchestra > Despacio > X CLUB.
S/o to Julie for the cool stage and all the other work on the fest. Honestly was up there for Bonnaroo and Coachella for me and looking forward to being back next year.

1. Caroline Polachek 2. Jeff Mills 3. Iggy Pop 4. Danny Daze b2b Daniel Avery 5. Tiga & Hudson Mohawke
Sick weekend per usual. Started it out by seeing Nia Archives, Ivy Lab and a little Hudson Mohawke on Thursday night. Nia ripped, Ivy Lab did not. Popped into Floyd too on the way out which was cool.
Some other highlights were D. Tiffany b2b Roza Terenzi. They probably make my top 5 if I’d seen more than like 20 mins. Joy Orbison was this way as well. He’s definitely in my top 5 if I saw more than 20 mins but couldn’t leave Sister System b2b Julie because they were ripping too.
Iggy Pop was running around the stage like a mad man despite being 77 and his band was sick. Throwing the mic stand, fell through a hole in the stage/rolling around the stage. He even spit on the crowd lol. This was also the best of the 3 times I’ve seen Caroline.
Despacio was as good as always. Probably spent like 4-5 hours in there in total. X Club was just raging and was a good way to end it for me.
did a little write up the other day when i was traveling home so feel like i should share it here! great first time in Miami and at iii Points!
iiipoints review/ranking
1. Skrillex 2. Tiga b2b Hudson Mohawke (Love Minus Zero) 3. Nia Archives (Ground Pre-Party) 4. Caribou 5. Caroline Polachek

Fred Again..: started a little slow. crowd was super low energy for first half despite everyone pushing up. think my time with him has passed a bit for now, need something new to energize his character EITS: such a unique and dope set to start the weekend Jockstrap: another unique mainstage opener for me. great musicianship and solid way to get the blood flowing before another big day Two Shell: they were prob my #1 before the Portola shenanigans so i’m glad it worked out. would’ve been higher if i caught more but already had my heart set on splitting so we persist! Daphni: just banger after banger. sequence is such an insane stage
admittedly, i spent an hour in Despacio on Friday soon after it opened. i couldn’t help but think to myself “man this is kinda overrated.” i felt bad for feeling that way but it was honest despite thinking it was still great. part of me feels like i hyped it up in my head more than i should’ve and the other part of me knows i just hit it at the wrong time. after closing out both nights in there, i can say it produced what will be core fest memories for a very long time. the music is great and it sounds solid but more than anything the energy is just infectious. everyone i was with just couldn’t stop laughing and smiling as we danced as hard as ever until the final moments. overall, i think i’ve come to the conclusion that maybe the music isn’t as mind blowing as i expected and the sound isn’t just this elite thing like it’s made out to be, but it captures something that is really hard to find and hold so for that i’m thankful to have experienced it and hope to close the damn thing out again 🫶🏼
all in all, i’ve gotta say this is my favorite city fest i’ve been to. it’s truly got it all! unique bookings, cool venue, clear and thoughtful work out into stages, great vibes when you’re in the right pockets, amazing stage sound, and so much more. i’m in basically any year that i can until the fest makes me feel otherwise. what a way to end the fest year

Welcome to Miami! I hope you got some good food while you were here.
I think youre initial experience with Despacio is typical, especially if you were there as the doors opened. The whole set (inc light cues) slowly crescendos over the six hours, which is rarely talked about when explaining to newbies, so the early phases are purposely more muted. Many people I brought in were like "really, this is it?" but by the time the first disco ball comes around, people are already hooked. I'm glad you gave it another chance!
And I echo what you said on the last line. Off all the fests I've been to, this one definitely feels the most thought-out/intentional...every detail from lineup/set times, stage design, art, etc was obviously considered. I feel like iii points put more effort into small stuff like the little Miami Community Radio thingy than the likes of ACL puts into their #1 main stage lmao. So yeah, love or hate any aspect of iii points, at least there was clear thought into it, and given how the grounds changed even vs last year, I have confidence they'll continue to work/tweak it to try to do better. Tons of respect for that in today's music festival landscape (cough cough live nation cough).

i was pretty well versed in the crescendo thing of Despacio but guess i just discounted how much of an effect it would have on me to see it in that state. like i said, even that first hour was still great but didn’t really capture the magic as i expected

absolutely love that Skrilly scored your number 1 spot. im gonna do my write-up today and he'll def be in top 5 -- part of me regrets leaving like 20-25 min early to pop into Despacio but also, popping into Despacio never really felt like a bad call/regret to me. and when Amber & I went to go pee after being in Despacio for just about fifteen min, I heard Supersonic blasting and we ran outside to the dance party that was happening up on the patio right outside the Despacio building to hear the last few tracks of the set.
and Tiga/Hudson will be in my top 3 for sure too. cannot get over how delightful that set was.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Overall, lovedddd this fest. Miami is such a fun city (this was my first time visiting!), clearly superior to all other parts of FL lol -- I love how the culture doesn't feel too American. E.g. on Sunday night, we were wandering around Miami Beach and so many people were eating dinner at 11:30pm out on the sidewalk patios, felt v Spain-like.
Had a dope airbnb with a lil pool in the backyard with LoveLuckLaughter & Adam & Terry, and steponsampras & his partner Amber. loved our crew and would happily stay at that airbnb again. And then was great of course to see The Boys while in the festival Friday & Saturday. Rooloo was the only one wise enough to come hang out at our airbnb to make use of pool time, so gold star for him.
Apparently Tay Swift is playing Miami the same weekend as IIIP 2024, which will likely make travel/lodging plans a bit crazy to figure out but I will definitely be trying to make it back next year.
Friday: Explosions in the Sky -> horrible cold overpriced vegan nachos, RIP -> Caribou -> brief pop in to Despacio -> Fred -> uhhh LoveLuckLaughter did we pop by a set before walking back to Skrilly or just wander to bathrooms/refill water? I cannot recall lol -> Skrillex -> some Despacio -> first 30 min of Ame b2b Dixon -> Tiga & Hudson Mohawke Present Love Minus Zero -> walking the streets of Miami with steponsampras & Amber from 4-4:45am unable to secure a ride until we finally walked far enough away from the general activity to get a Lyft. that was v rough, my body was just like a floating ghost of soreness at this point. tired souls were strewn across every street corner we passed, also clearly struggling to get a ride. just brutal.
Saturday: Caroline (wanted to make it in for Jockstrap but alas) -> first half of SBTRKT -> Daphni -> Lane 8 -> lil bit of TSHA -> half of Daniel Avery b2b Danny Daze -> Despacio finale -> ended at X Club before heading out a bit before 4am so as to avoid the Uber/Lyft shit show experience from the night before -> stopped for like 8 mins to vibe at the LITERALLY EMPTY (I'm talking 10-12 people there) Nicholas G. Padilla set at Sequence which was honestly quite good and I felt rly bad for the dude
Top 7, in no particular order (jk Jake Jortles ): 1. Lane 8 2. Tiga & Hudson Mohawke 3. Daphni 4. Caroline 5. Skrillex 6. Despacio, especially being there for the final 45 min on the second night with the Inforoo Crew™. didn't see Julie in Despacio but then once we posted up right outside the entrance for a group photo, he jumped into the frame out of nowhere & it was great. 7. Explosions in the Sky
*Daniel b2b Danny was fantastic, wish timing had worked out to catch more of it; Caribou & Fred really suffered from shitty crowds, especially Fred
Most joyous: Lane 8. RyDolla$ign & I navigated our way quite successfully through the packed out clusterfuck to secure a spot on the far left about midway into the crowd and had an amazing vibe of people around us for the show. And then it was just nonstop dancing and smiling from start to finish; Lane 8's live sets are a heart expanding experience for me. Honorable mention to last 45 min of Despacio Night Two for this category.
Best vocals: Caro. This was my fourth time seeing her and definitely the best; our girl sounded fucking flawlesssss, and we had a killer spot close to the rail on the right side.
Best surprise killer set: Hudson Mohawke b2b Tiga. This was just what I wanted & needed by 2:45am on Friday night; their song selection was incredible, their mixing super smooth, and the visuals were weird and gorgeous and I loved everything about this set. Dan808 & browell & RyDolla$ign & I were up near the rail on the left side with plentyyyy of room to dance, and then Jim Watson & Cookin' Mama & tЯist♡n showed up a little ways into it and we all danced til the end.
Biggest letdown: Fred The crowd was ultra shitty but also he did some weird shit with his transitions and did a lot of stop/start on great songs that sometimes he didn't end up playing more than a tease of (this especially bummed me out with Sabrina - I Am a Party). I luckily got to see an absolutely phenomenal intimate Fred set at the 930 Club last year, and this so drastically paled in comparison but at least I've had one amazing Fred experience, can't win 'em all
Most nostalgic: Skrilly & EITS, in very different ways. Skrillex threw down so hard and was just straight dumb fun, felt like a college days throwback. And then The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place is an album that means a lot to me & "Your Hand in Mine" is one of my favorite post-rock tracks to exist, so this was a beautiful experience all around. They didn't hold back, rocked out really hard on the instrumentals.
Best dance party: Daphni. just banger after banger; I kept thinking I might go check something out before it ended and Lane 8 started, but I couldn't pull myself away.
Most bummed I missed: Jeff Mills & Jacques Greene & Nia Archives
