I turned on NBC at 8 PM last night and sat through 20 minutes of Mike Tirico talking about what a shitshow China is from a human rights and geopolitical perspective.

Guessing they probably aren't going to talk about the US prison population or the support of the Saudi bombing campaign in Yemen in the middle of the LA opening ceremony.

LD's Curling Talk: So far I've seen a few matches.
- The Aussies are a feel good story. Curling down there is nowhere near as popular as it is in other countries, and there's no dedicated curling facilities in the entire country. The doubles team haven't won yet, but at least seem to keep it close in most of their matches so far. They could have picked off the Americans - had hammer in the last end, but missed on the last shot allowing the US to steal a win.
- Speaking of the Americans, I saw their match against Italy. Italy looks good. The US needs to start notching wins to have a chance at a medal.

MD team has looked middle of the road. Stealing a win against Sweden when their female was horrendous helps the cause.

Watched snowboarding people do 720-degree flips, land on their faces, and pop up smiling last night while thinking about how, the last time I tried it, I fell down on the beginner slope and tore 60 percent of my quad tendon. #blessed

I can't remember the last opening weekend of the Olympics when USA didn't win a gold medal. I didn't do as much prep for these Olympics so I don't know the cause of this, but I know the alpine skiing team is pinning its hopes on Makayla, and US Speed Skating has been in a funk for awhile it seems. The freestyle skiing and snowboarding events are ones we dominated for awhile but USA didn't even medal in men's snowcross (I think is the right one) overnight.
