So I've been closely but surely been thinking about 1) the albums that really made 2021 for music outlets and 2) ofcourse which did for me. The first prompt has been nagging me for a couple of days now actually, cause I can't really seem to pin point a couple of albums that will end up in lists of like Pitchfork, Stereogum etc. Do y'all have guesses?

I feel pretty confident in saying that barring any major releases next month, Weather Station is going to be Pitchfork’s AOTY and it’ll probably hit the top 10 of a lot of other lists. Otherwise, as far as albums that’ll do well across the board - Little Simz? Japanese Breakfast? The war on drugs?

Black midi, Little Simz, Tyler feel like top 10 locks for any music outlet list

What makes you so confident in saying that?
Little Simz was also one of the few I had thought about aswell. Wasn't a huge fan of Tyler's latest effort, really but could see it ending up high. For the rest idk really tbh.

Only two albums have scored 9, it’s that one and the Floating Points album and Pitchfork has been promoting the Weather Station more (the album, her interviews, the festival performances etc.)
The way they're hyping the album up; Snail Mail should easily be a top 10 album for P4K I think.
Outside of Valentine, the other singles have been meh for me. I can respect changing direction but I loved what the single Valentine was offering. Hopefully the rest of the album picks up the pace.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
