I haven't been paying much attention this year so far, but why does everyone seem to think GV pushed and not the other way around? Frank Ocean may be the single most desirable headliner to GV right now between rarity, interest from the festival's fan base, critical acclaim, etc. Can't imagine them pushing him for anyone they would have had booked in 2022.
Yeah because if Coachella wants to remain the top US festival, booking a headliner who's already playing multiple shows in LA is the way to go.
Coachella is going to remain the top U.S. festival regardless. I would imagine A LOT of people would be excited to see Bad Bunny headline, despite the multiple LA shows considering Coachella's attendees span far from just the LA area.

It makes sense if they booked a white whale for 2022 pre-Covid and they weren't able to push them back to 2023 for logistical reasons. Frank isn't going to lose his rarity, and he clearly isn't that into playing live. Waiting a year might be fine for everyone involved.

Isn't that what they did with Ariana Grande in 2019?
The difference is in 2019 they needed to find someone to replace Kanye in 2 weeks. They were 8 months out from lineup release when the rumor started that Frank was out. They have more options

I have always read this as generic press release fluff, but fair point.
Normally I'd agree, but Paul is pretty candid in his interviews. I wonder if they've delayed his next album rollout to next year sometime.
The rumor currently is he’s shopping his album to major labels. I’m not some insider but I take that as the rollout is at least 6 months away. Most likely closer to a year +

Ariana was a legit last minute replacement and she actually wasn't supposed to be nearby, she had to reschedule a lot of shows on her tour to accommodate playing at Coachella. For Frank, they had/have ample time so they don't have to panic book someone fast.
Fugees are way bigger than Tribe. Tribe is big in the hiphop world but Fugees had big songs cross over to a general audience, not just hiphop. Wyclef and Lauryn's solo success adds to their acclaim. Even Pras had Ghetto Superstar as a solo artist lol. I'm sure they'd do at least 2 Lauryn and Wyclef singles, and one for Pras in their set. Fugees wouldn't headline Coachella unless it was a coheadline situation in my opinion. I'd rather them close the Outdoor than sub personally.
Subs to be Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X I reckon.
i think we'll see a big edm artist subbing and one of those being 3rd on their day. also i feel like itd be a cop out to bump up those 3 to sub status instead of getting a couple of new ones

Paul did mention this in the aforementioned interview, and it would not shock me if we see at least one of the above earn a sub spot.

Megan has the easiest path if she changes days unless Calvin Harris dropped out or something. Doja could just take the spot that Marina left open on Sunday and thats a respectable move up the poster because she was so low to begin with. Lil Nas could just take DaBaby's spot on Saturday as a troll move.
Would anyone be upset with another OutKast reunion
Since I wasn't at Coachella 2014, I would absolutely love it, but I can see the issue with those who were there. It won't happen though. Outkast didn't do a SoCal show outside of Coachella last go around so I didn't get to see them. I'd be happy with an LA show.
