I'm not quite sure of the sequence, but PFT said this morning that the Texans were looking for another team to interview McCown to add "legitimacy" to his possible hire (they really want to hire him), and even speculated it might be the Jags because of a connection (McCown and someone at the Jags having the same agent). Also this morning, there was a report that the Jags were interested in having a conversation with McCown. Again, don't know of the sequence, which happened first.

Texans think they are playing 4d chess with a mccown hire. Funny to see all the dummies defend it because despite his inexperience. Being fresh out of the league doesnt give you a magical step up on every coach in the nfl.
I wonder if the Texans want to hire McCown because he's super Christian. That seems really important to them, as Easterby, a VP of theirs with a lot of influence, used to be a chaplain.
My aunt said once that her favorite NFL player was Josh McCown and I was like "lol why?" and it was because he's a man of faith!

A football quote that will stick with me for a while that I overheard at work is, "Of course I like Tebow. I'm a Christian." This was during the end of his time playing in the league in defense of him starting despite playing like shit.

Why arent they hiring Tebow then.
Guess there's more than one Christian in the United States who played football!

Peter King pointed out today that no coaches have been hired, and it's been two weeks - the past 63 coaches to be fired (before this year), 53 were filled within two weeks. And it's been noticeable that every organization (seemingly, I haven't checked to see it's all) has been tweeting out the candidates they've met with after the meeting is complete. I find this interesting.
Shit. I guess we can say goodbye to Daboll. It was nice keeping everybody together while it lasted.
We are kind of in the same boat. I saw that our Assistant GM Jeff Ireland and DC Dennis Allen were both interviewing with the Bears. I feel like Ireland (architect of the best in history draft of 2017 - performance by a rookie class - but also architect of tons of misses after the 3rd round) will be a pretty big loss. Dennis Allen figured out how to beat the best teams whenever we remotely have a large enough sampling of our first and second string Defensive players available. We'll miss him too if he gets that job. I'd love to see both of those guys move up, but I'd rather they stayed here.

"best in history draft of 2017" lol you crack me up my friend.

Round 1, Pick 11: CB Marshon Lattimore, Ohio State
Round 1, Pick 32: OT Ryan Ramczyk, Wisconsin
Round 2, Pick 42: S Marcus Williams, Utah
Round 3, Pick 67: RB Alvin Kamara, Tennessee
Round 3, Pick 76: LB Alex Anzalone, Florida
Round 3, Pick 103: DE Trey Hendrickson, Florida Atlantic
Round 6, Pick 196: DE Al-Quadin Muhammad, Miami
It also matters that we had both the offensive rookie of the year and defensive rookie of the year from that class. All players are still in the NFL:
Lattimore - superstar Ramczyk - Perennial 1st or 2nd team All Pro Williams - Except for the two blunders he's had that were magnified, he's always scoring high in PFF grades. 2nd Team All Pro Kamara - You already know Anzalone - Decent LB but gets hurt too much; plays for Detroit Lions Hendrickson - Beast for Cincinnati and broke their sack record this year; was great for us while we could keep him Muhammad - Plays for the Colts; didn't work out with us but got 6 sacks and 1 FF last season
Yeah, I'm always a Saints homer when I can be. But I'm not always trolling.

It's a good draft. The 1974 Steelers draft produced 4 Hall of Famers.
Also, I hate this tendency (not by you, generally) to rush to crown everything "the best". The draft class has played 5 years in the league. It's a good class and has tons of potential left.
I agree because not everything can be the greatest ever as things are often said to be. 538 (who I trust in general) based that off their rookie season and the value the draft class brought to the team. We also led the league that year in rookie usage which is discussed in their analysis. It doesn't mean it will have produced the greatest players all time for a draft class, it was based on their contributory value in that first season. --------------------- Yeah, it's not the same thing. I should have put "class" behind draft in the OP. It's too early to know how long all these guys will be in the league and what they will accomplish. Ram missed close to half the season this year, so it wasn't a great year for him to be sure. Kamara had off/on issues with injuries and COVID. Otherwise, it's a great class so far.
Edited op to note greatest rookie class production from the draft.
