It is kind of bizarre that Lizzo is getting a headliner spot off the success of literally one single, that's now pushing three years old...
She's a great performer but she hasn't dropped a feature, or well dropped anything at all since before Covid. Megan and Lana are much hotter right now and would make better choices for the headliner spot Lizzo has been given.
you're right, i should, since i'll probably either be at the My Morning Jacket Superjam or the King Gizzard Superjam or the Goose Superjam.
The worst part is that when you’re all wrong, you won’t even care. *sigh*
honestly i'm just riding the inforoo meme train. i'm actually confident that if they are calling it a superjam it will at least have covers.
the resentment my joke springs from is more towards what the superjam has become over bonnaroo's history. less about improvisation between exciting artists and more about a bunch of thursday randos getting together to cover "juicy".
i sincerely hope the SE superjam is super dope and i regret missing it.

Two singles, but whatever.
And omg, Lana headlining...I'm falling asleep thinking about it.
Ok, so to clarify: Lizzo is incapable of headlining solely because she hasn’t announced that she’s putting out an album this year and LDR and Tyler can headline because they did?

Juice, Truth Hurts, Good As Hell
I don’t think it’s any different from elevating Kendrick after a couple of hits off one album; they got lucky he dropped new music right before Bonnaroo
Doesn’t always pan out but Lizzo will be a fun show regardless
Like, while I was at work on Friday I saw Inside Edition doing a whole story on Lizzo’s IG post about it being a big girl summer or whatever. Even ignoring Spotify plays or charts, for better or worse she is still a celebrity right now!
while i have no qualms with lizzo headlining i concede that right at this moment megan is the bigger artist. using the ever popular spotify monthly listener metric it's not even close, 12.7 million vs 35.9 million (lana at 20 million).
i'm sure lizzo has some more hits in the pipeline. looking forward to new music.
yeah the one thing I won’t disagree on is Meg being bigger than Lizzo right now. I think the only two acts you could argue could headline over Lizzo are Meg and the Foos.

This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
So it's looking like Bonnaroo may be Tame's first performance back. Their tour is supposed to start late July, but that came into question when Mark Ronson asked Kevin Parker on a recent podcast about when their tour dates are happening, and Kevin responded, "Well we're playing Bonnaroo in September," like he was not planning on doing shows in a little over a month. Then today Tame posted this strange video. At the end, he holds up a vial and then it says "Phase 1 Clinical Trials 09/2021.
Someone posted a picture of the vial and at the top it says 09042021, the date Tame is headlining.
There's also a website associated with it. aionwell.com

tbf megs two biggest hits feature bigger artists (wap/savage)
I mean, it totally matters that Lizzo is on Inside Edition. She's Mom Famous. That's the difference in celebrity between being a headliner and a sub a lot of the time.
Looking at Google Trends, Lizzo's peak search volume in late 2019 is nearly double Meg's peak in July 2020.
Meg is also borderline Mom Famous and is probably on Inside Edition plenty as well.

I think Tame should be on that list. Has more monthly listeners on Spotify, The Less I Know the Better has 811M streams, and has 8 songs with over 100M streams. Plus the bigger discography and built reputation.
Is this in response to my post? I'm not saying I care that Lizzo is headlining, I'm just stating that I think Tame could be justified as having higher billing. I don't see why not.

But they're not. You're arguing against what actually happened.

Lizzo has 3 albums and, at the risk of being a broken record on this topic, toured hard and had the same kind of reputation you’re talking about, especially, as inconsequential as it may seem, in the Twin Cities!

Let’s be honest, you guys. What could be more Bonnaroo than almost booking your first female headliner then replacing her with Skrillex? It’s too poetic to not be happening.
