sylvan esso fans how would y'all feel about the superjam being during the late evening as opposed to LN. so either sun setting during the set or fully after sunset.
I wouldn't mind this at all, except that for me personally, it would probably be an even worse conflict pre-HL than it would be LN.

Spent some time with The Who lineup and I can definitely see myself making time to check out Early James, Neal Francis, Garcia Peoples, and Lil Smokies. Based off what I’ve heard so far
There’s other stuff that’s pretty good but imo these are all acts that might take precedence depending on a conflict

Hope a good chunk of them are Thursday or Sunday
would be a huge help to have garcia peoples and neal francis on thursday. would give me two acts to be excited about on day 1.

I’ve been thinking this is an ideal superjam for a tent-closer spot before whichever headliner is on first
Sylvan Esso > Tame > Gizz > Lizzo > MMJ
with Goose regrettably playing the same time as Gizz or MMJ
OK i listened to sylvan esso again and i remember what my deal is now: she has the Feist voice. I like Feist but have never really liked anyone that has that similar vocal style after her. obviously this is a postjack problem not a Sylan Esso problem.
often when i don't like a musician's music for a dumb personal reason like this i like to catch them at a festival to see if i can overcome my biases, but given the lineup this year i'm fairly confident there will be a significant conflict that will prevent me from catching them.
Funny you mention that, she was (along with the rest of mountain man) a backup singer on Feists “Metals” album and tour.

This would be really ideal. Thursday needs to be beefed up a little for me

Yeah Garcia Peoples closing The Who on Thursday is probably the ideal option. For Neal I could also be alright with an early Saturday set
The Lil Smokies have played a couple venues in my v sparsely populated corner of the woods, they’ll put on a great show, Lots of these Who acts aren’t going to blow anyone away, but in my experience if there’s music you actively want to avoid, like Incubus or Nelly (not knocking those bands per se, just some examples that readily came to my mind), The Who stage is a great spot to get away. Easy place to get beers quickly too.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

What's the deal with Brittany Howard? Anyone have the scoop on why the Alabama Shakes went on hiatus? She got the shaft for the lolla schedule. Does she play any shakes songs? Gotta play at least Hold on or Don't wanna fight, no?

she typically only does material from whatever act she’s performing as
Setlists from her Jaime tour were p much the album + a few covers
Not sure why they went on hiatus but in the time since they did the drummer has been accused of child abuse so they'll probably be off the radar for awhile, at the least.
Her solo work is better than any Alabama Shakes song anyways
your post made me throw "Jaime" on, which i think i half listened to once when it came out, and you are right it's pretty good so far.
the biggest issue i've had with alabama shakes is they had that one electrifying song and the rest were super dull. saw them live a few years back at the saenger and because of the dull songs it was a dull show.
but shit i vividly remember the first time i saw that video for "Hold On". my whole body was vibrating and i was like what the fuck is happening to me.

Didn’t help that they hardly ever played Hold On live. But I also liked some of the more experimental and groovy parts of Sound & Color and was happy to hear Brittany carry some of that over into Jaime. I think her best work is still yet to come though

I thought Alabama Shakes were pretty great at Bonnaroo 2015, Brittany has an amazing voice. I do prefer her solo material though, the overall sound is more up my alley.
Re-listening to Jaime now. Forgot how insanely good this album is. Now I’m stoked all over again for her on Sunday. Both Alabama Shakes sets in 12 & 15 were amazing!!! I’m sure her solo performance will be right up there. Can’t freakin wait!!!!

I’ll partially take that back. I forgot about Sound & Color

Ya’ll wack. Pretty much ever Alabama’s shakes song slaps except for hold on. Jaime is good but doesn’t touch on any Alabama shakes stuff. Also Brittany needs to get back on the guitar.

Alabama Shakes are one of the most boring popular bands ever. I tried so many times…just no. Howard’s solo album has more personality so I may actually give her a try
Saw Alabama Shakes at Outside Lands years ago. It was like the first show we walked up on, and I found myself immediately looking around for another stage. Doesn’t do it for me, either.
