I've listened to Sylvan Esso dozens of times but can never remember what they sound like.
I own two of their records and cannot recall a song either. Fortunate, then, that they’ll be playing all covers. Odd scenario where an all covers set might be for the best?
In all seriousness, I think Sylvan Esso's first album (self-titled) is great. It has a unique charm and overall mood. Second album I thought had a couple gems but was overall just decent. Mostly the same feeling with album #3. It's again good but not great, and I was surprised how little they evolved their sound, because they are actually really talented.
I recommend their Tiny Desk show, it's one of my favorites. Her interactions with the crowd are really charming, and the two of them have great chemistry. For added context, they're now married.

My thoughts exactly. Really enjoy their first album, though I rarely return to their next two. I will say though that HSKT absolutely smacks live.

Yeah HSKT is the one song on the album I don't care for much, but it's one of the best songs live. They're really good live in general.

I guess this makes me the resident Sylvan Esso stan. I love all their records, and have enjoyed seeing both the electronic and WITH versions of the band a great deal. If the Superjam just ended up being a stealth Sylvan Esso WITH show, I'd be totally fine with it (but I don't think that's all it'll be).

Seen Sylvan Esso a few times including their Nashville WITH show and I expect the Bonnaroo show will be pretty awesome. There are two WITH albums streaming (one full length and an EP of their new record) and both are solid.
The songs are often changed in pretty subtle ways but all the instrumentation makes it sound much more lush. I have no idea what songs they’ll add in to make a superjam. But with 10 or so people they could do anything…Arcade Fire? Radiohead? No idea
Yeah I’m on the train of Sylvan Esso is amazing too. Really fun set when I saw her at Roo. I think all their albums are a party, I’m just sad that I know I sadly probably won’t be at the WITH/Superjam because I know I’m gonna have a conflict there with late night. Other than that if it was against someone I don’t care about as much instead of some of the ones I think it’ll be. I’d def be there for the Superjam. Also it’s probably the first time that my girl and I might not be at the same set. She loves Sylvan Esso and that’s on the top of her list for her. We just need this schedule already.
I also like Sylvan Esso, live more so than on record, but after also defending yaeji on here too I think part of it is that I’m far too easily amused by someone pressing a few buttons on their launchpad/DJ setup accompanied by some light dancing.

Lol I feel this. I think to some of the above points about the sound not evolving that much, Nick and Amelia are both really talented and it ust feels like the last two albums haven't been as adventurous as they could've been.

I like Sylvan Esso as much as the next guy, but I'm kinda curious as to what sort of stuff they might play at the Superjam. Is it just going to be the WITH show, or could there be some covers or surprises in store? If anyone has opinions on that it could be fun to discuss

I think it’s going to be an all-cover Tom Petty tribute set.

I don’t see why there won’t be a theme, like all other superjams. My guess is we are getting a “celebrating women in music” Superjam or something in that ballpark. Whatever it is, it’s gonna be a party

Sylvan Esso and friends celebrate the music of Foghat.

I remember during their What Now tour, Nick was posting these synth pieces he would create backstage, and they were much more experimental than Sylvan Esso's stuff had been to that point. So I messaged him and asked if he thought things like that could be incorporated into Sylvan Esso, and he said something like "Absolutely. Nothing is off limits with Sylvan Esso." So that added to my disappointment when Free Love ended up being mostly more of the same sound.
OK i listened to sylvan esso again and i remember what my deal is now: she has the Feist voice. I like Feist but have never really liked anyone that has that similar vocal style after her. obviously this is a postjack problem not a Sylan Esso problem.
often when i don't like a musician's music for a dumb personal reason like this i like to catch them at a festival to see if i can overcome my biases, but given the lineup this year i'm fairly confident there will be a significant conflict that will prevent me from catching them.

he does solo stuff under the name "made of oak" - saw a DJ set LN at one big holiday a few years ago and it was good, a bit more left of the dial than sylvan esso.
Seven Lions, G Eazy, MMJ, King Gizz, Marc Rebillet, Goose, Subtronics or Yaeji
Who else am I missing from Saturday that has a high potential of being late night? Hopefully not Remi Wolf. I hope that she starts my day off actually!

seems like a comprehensive list. if sylvan esso is LN i almost certainly think they'll conflict with one of mmj, king gizz, or goose. stretching out your list i guess kevin gates is also a possibility. i don't see remi wolf being LN but IIRC bonnaroo sometimes throws a smaller pop artist onto the LN schedule.
the real curveball would be if they don't book sylvan esso LN.
sylvan esso fans how would y'all feel about the superjam being during the late evening as opposed to LN. so either sun setting during the set or fully after sunset.

I’ve been thinking this is an ideal superjam for a tent-closer spot before whichever headliner is on first
Sylvan Esso > Tame > Gizz > Lizzo > MMJ
with Goose regrettably playing the same time as Gizz or MMJ

JID is one of my predictions for LN. Also think Ashnikko is a possibility, she's pretty popular now.
