Listing Kevin Parker, Dave Grohl, and Jim James when any member of Nubya Garcia or Makaya McCraven’s band could blow them out of the water without a second thought...
My rationale for Parker was based on that I think he plays everything on the albums like Trent. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. Grohl is neither the greatest guitarist or drummer, it's just that he's made it as both. Both of those are debatable. I gave it to Jim James because I've seen him play 5 different instruments at a show, proficiently. I haven't seen Nubya Garcia or Makaya McCraven yet, so I'm excited for the recommendations.

But that’s the problem when you’re listing who the “best musicians” on the lineup are and then ignore people you’re unfamiliar with while including people whose musicianship you even admit isn’t that spectacular or just people who can play multiple instruments, which is pretty common. I’d venture that those 3 guys aren’t even in the top 50 instrumentalists playing Bonnaroo this year

Yeah I think Kevin Parker is a valid choice. He's not that skilled on stage, but like you said he does play everything on the albums himself (he's a fantastic drummer and has countless amazing basslines), as well as writing and producing all of it by himself. I can't imagine how much skill and creativity it would take to go from a blank canvas to creating an entire album dense with sound all by oneself. That's a whole lot of ideas and moving pieces for one person to handle.

Garcia Peoples isn’t a must see band for me, but they’re close, and I bet their set on that Who stage rips.
Probably gonna get dunked on for this but:
It would be cool if they played somewhere in the campgrounds also. I saw Backup Planet at a plaza or somewhere among some vendors on my way back from Centeroo one night, don't remember which year.
If the grind still does secret sets on the day time. I could see this being a good Thursday secret set

I think there's a pretty substantial chance that some of the most talented musicians on the farm are random backing members for solo acts who just haven't caught their big break yet
Has anyone considered how big Marc has got? He might be LN Which and MMJ plays the set they always play at sunset etc. this place will burn to the ground but it’s a possibility with his recent placements
I think it’s in their best interest to make the Marc tent show a madhouse. It’s a win win. You get the fabeled jacket which late night banger and a legendary Marc tent show that will never happen again. And then I’m telling you, he’ll be back in 2022 and on the which

hand habits is someone who sticks out as I was watching Kevin Morby and was just like wow she's so much better than him

Those are all fair points. What I'd say is that I've seen almost all the middle and major acts on the lineup. But I haven't seen that much of the lower card stuff. I was waiting until closer to the festival and maybe even once the schedule comes out to delve into those acts. I'm hoping to be surprised and am open to recommendations (see above) especially when it comes to musical talent more so than performer x has a great song. I like to gravitate toward the musical, and again, I'll all ears on any favorable recommendations.

Not if you’re not afraid to say that jazz is not the pillar on which all other genres bow down to. Jim James is a hell of a guitarist and I’m not afraid to say he’s better than any of the players you listed.

Hand habits is great. She is gonna be the star of the super jam

This.
We’ll I won’t be a coward and will name a name. And that name is Nate Smith. Brittany Howard’s drummer and the dude absolutely rips. He’s up there for sure
lol how is he supposed to rank people he doesn't know about? that's not exactly "ignoring".
I couldn't name one person in Mackayas band (though I'd probably just name him)
Maybe just don’t rank the “best” musicians and just say “these are my favorites”
my favorites and who I think is objectively best aren't always the same.
I can list a what I think are the best movies of all time, but I haven't seen them all.
just a wild ride that not coming out of the gate with a disclaimer that he has not in fact listened to every musician on the lineup and is just ranking ones he's familiar with -> "that's racist"
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount

It's all good. I hit up Ozzy. I agree with you on the point that the best isn't necessarily the favorite. You understood I was going for technical and what I know at this point which I thought was understood. I threw out 3 that I felt I might be overrating. Chino Moreno is probably my favorite overall performer on the lineup. I doubt he's in the Top 5 vocalists on the lineup as far as ability. But he ranks on the favorites list.

there are some people convinced that the Sylvan Esso presents WITH Superjam will just be a Sylvan Esso show despite the word “Superjam” on the lineup
Yeah I don’t understand why people are so confused. The WITH band is already the concept of a super jam band. Members from other bands joining in together. It will be a covers set and it will be a super jam. Otherwise it would just be billed as Sylvan Esso presents WITH
