Tool, Green Day, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Turnstile, Run The Jewels, Rancid, Viagra Boys, Babymetal, Royal Blood, Code Orange, Coheed and Cambria, Sleep Token, Deafheaven, Nothing But Thieves, Flogging Molly, Mannequin Pussy, The Hu, Enter Shikari, & Bob Vylan... this lineup fucks... I might look into going. Would have to do a lot of research on the Saturday lineup.
This is easily the best butt rock fest lineup I've ever seen.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb

How does the scheduling usually work? It's a great lineup, but do the headliners conflict in a Lolla way?

here's a clashfinder from 2022. looks like #1 headliners are unopposed, but the two acts before conflict.
in general, the top 3 acts should never conflict with each other, because they have two main stages that don't overlap (Space Zebra/Loudmouth). 2 may conflict with 4 but that's as bad as it will get. At least at Rockville, during set break they were broadcasting on the screens the show going on at the other stage, which was pretty neat, meant you didn't miss much at all.

So I was thinking the other day, we have a lot of critical darlings across these lineups like Jenny Beth, Code Orange, Deafheaven, RTJ,and even Turnstile as a sub, are there any other critical darlings or left field acts you think would go over well here?
Like, is it that big of a jump to have someone like Jack White headline? Or imagine Death Grips at one of these. I’d think they’d have to start looking elsewhere instead of having the same bookings year after year, right?

Thats what theyre doing already. Its a matter of those acts saying yes or not.
So, me and buddy are going to Sunday of Rockville. I going mainly for TMV, Tool & Deftones. And Pennywise because I haven't seen them since '96.
Anyone ever gone to this? Is the crowd going to be a bad as I'm expecting? I went VIP since we are going for just one day. Anyone done VIP at any of the Wimmer fest? I guess I'm just looking for any insights from anyone with experience.

Also, any other recommendations for that day?
I've been, had a blast, you can see my review on page 2 of this thread. Didn't do VIP so I can't speak to that, but holler if you have any other questions

Filter, Deafheaven, Nova Twins, Anti Flag.
I'm afraid of being too close to Filter. I ran the lights for a club show of theirs a while ago and fucked up, killed the entire lighting board and took about 2.5 minutes to get it back up and running again while they continued to play in complete darkness. Their manager was not too happy with me. Maybe I'll wear a fake mustache so they don't recognize me.
Went to Sunday of Rockville, haven’t been back since 2017 for A Perfect Circle mainly. Overall had a lot of fun even tho I was sober most of the day and only smoked a little here and there. This was my 4th time seeing Tool but my first time not tripping because of my freak out I had at Shaky and I was alone at Rockville, it was the wise decision. Was hoping that was gonna be my way to manifest hearing sober live but it didn’t work. Anyways, in order as I saw them.
Anti flag: started my day off with them as my full first set. (Walked by to check out Bob Vylan and then Nova Twins) But anyways they were so good! I loved their speeches about trans and gay rights and what all they had to say. Didn’t seem to play many of their songs compared to their mix of covers that went into each other. But it was still a fun way to start the day and have some true punk on the lineup.
Senses Fail: was a throwback for me since I’ve never seen them just listened to Can’t Be Saved all the time in like middle school. They were fine, Can’t Be Saved was the only song I knew. When walking away they were playing Chop Suey into Down with the Sickness into Break Stuff into Rage. I watched on the screens from the other stage and he got down into his underwear and ran around the stage and middle open area. Was quite fun and funny to watch honestly.
Grandson: second time seeing him and personally I think he’s a good live performer. He crowd surfed right in front and on top of me and I got a great (but blurry) video of him doing it.
The Mars Volta: this was my redemption set from Shaky. Prefer to see a psych band while tripping but again had my freak out so it was nice to see them with a clear mind as well. Played the same setlist as they did Shaky minus Cygnus which I kinda remember in a half state of consciousness at Shaky. Only complain is it wasn’t enough for me, I could watch them all day long honestly. Set was beautiful tho and still a trip while being sober. Was really close too so that was nice.
Coheed & Cambria: second time seeing them. I think I liked their set more last time I saw them at Rockville 17’. They sounded great here tho but for whatever reason the crowd didn’t seem too thrilled with them. Just seemed to be standing around probably waiting for Deftones after. Wish I heard them play a few other songs that they didn’t play.
Incubus: first time seeing them and always wanted to. They were definitely my second favorite set of the whole fest. I’ve heard mixed reviews about them now a days since he isn’t in his prime anymore. But I thought he sounded amazing still for his age. They played the hits and had a great setlist. Visuals were awesome too and had a great crowd and atmosphere at that show.
Deftones: also my first time seeing them and they were really good as well. Again same as Incubus in that I’ve heard they can be a hit or miss nowadays but I thought Chino sounded great still and instrumentally the rest of the band sounded impeccable. Great setlist as well with an even mix of songs throughout their discography. Third best set right behind Incubus and most of the audience I could tell was there for them or Tool.
Tool: what can I say that I haven’t before. They are always amazing live and the main reason I went. This was my 4th time seeing them but my first time sober as I said. Didn’t catch any new songs I have been chasing still. Really really wanted Right In Two but as soon as I heard The Patient I knew we got that instead of it. Since they play one or the other always. Set was practically the same as Roo’s but we did get 46 & 2 which it’s been since 2016 since I’ve heard that and it’s one of my favorites so that was nice. They stopped like 20 minutes early I heard. But I think they were only listed until 11:40 anyways. Apparently they sound checked for Schism but didn’t play it obviously. Crowd was good even being further back, had great fans around me that knew every song and every word just as I did. Visuals were amazing and since I was pit at Roo it was better to view them completely from this set at Rockville.
Overall a great single day of music! Last time I was at Rockville I think it was in Jacksonville but now it’s at the Daytona International Speedway. Interesting location. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either. Interesting to be looking around the venue and see the stadium seats and stuff. But the layout wasn’t bad, two main stages in the long stench of land, one on each end. Only had tacos from a food truck and they were mid. Also only complaint is I stood in line for an hour to get underneath the tent for them to annouce there were no more Tool posters available. Saw so many people buying multiples (which is common I know) but I still thought they have been limiting the amount you can buy to one or two more recently. Would’ve gotten one if people didn’t buy them all up. Got a shirt tho since I waited an hour and didn’t want to feel like I wasted all that time for nothing. No hydration packs allowed in is the dumbest rule of all time. Crowd was eh, rock and metal crowds just don’t seem to know what to do when it comes to live shows. Made me realize how great Bonnaroo really is and how great Shaky is as well in comparison. Will I go back? Probably if Maynard is there in some form again.

deafheaven and angel dust
Deafheaven was something. They gave all their energy and the band sounded great. I could not understand a single thing the guy was singing/screaming though. VIP defiantly not worth it, nice place to chill but horrible stage access, as in zero front of stage access. Closest you could get was 50 yards from the front of stage left for the main stage. Crowd was what I expected, but not in a bad way. Everyone was nice/respectful. And, I found Jesus several times in the crowd, so there's that... Best set was TMV, but much prefer their solo shows where they can go for 3 hours. At least that's what they did in NOLA years ago at house of blues. Still awesome to see them back at it. Thank you all for the recs!

how was Tool for ya? know we had talked about that likely being your top reason for going.
