You're gonna sit here and tell a *trans woman* that banning her healthcare is okay?
You're fucking insane.
Are you a child? Are you a parent? If neither, how am I talking about you?
I'm not going to speak for Ellie, but most people don't wake up at 24 years old and just be like - fuck it I'm a woman now. Trans people, especially MTF, question and/or stay closeted for a long ass time. Because - society is terrible in general, unsupported families, fear of retribution, etc...
For example, can you site specific checks for drugs for children that are not in place? Nobody is talking about how we have rigorous testing for all drugs, even the ones for adults.
Not commenting on the larger issue you all are discussing, but would like it noted that prescriptions drugs, even the ones prescribed frequently to children, are very rarely tested on children at all prior to being prescribed to children. That is why there are so many black box warnings for medications being prescribed to young bodies and brains. We have no idea how they affect the developing brain and body and have found that some that are regularly doled out to kids cause huge problems.
there's lots and lots of biases in health and medical research because for many years, study participants were young, white, males.

Yes for sure. Right down to the “normal temperature” of 98.6.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

This is important, but for the issue at hand, hopefully we can assume puberty blockers were tested on children. Puberty blockers can literally save trans kid’s lives. Yes, there are risks and side effects, like with anything that’s not aspirin, but no reason to wave our hands and talk about all of pharma’s other sins without a specific reason to do so here. But if there is a specific reason then let er rip.

I apologize if my comment came off as glib. It wasn't meant as some straw man or hand waving distraction.
To bring it to the issue at hand, the people arguing against puberty blockers going on about "the safety of the children" when a ton of the drugs we give our kids were never tested in kids. There's a huge lack of pediatric specific drug trials, but we still use them anyway. Clozapine, Zoloft, heart failure and hypertension drugs, warfarin, etc. None of these were tested in children (neither were puberty blockers!) But we know they are safe and effective to use in children from years of case studies, meta reviews, etc that doctors have used to develop guidelines for the safe and effective use of these drugs in children (or other off label uses) because the initial RCT didn't.
This is pretty funny. I understand the sentiment but he should be making good for past transgressions if he wants another chance. I love Asheville and am glad people fought against that shit.

Not sure if it's related but I'm pretty sure ive read it's like an industry "secret" that Fallon drinks/parties too hard (possibly too much) and I've been kind of waiting for that to become a bigger thing at some point. Haven't read any details yet so I don't know if the accurate like "he made a joke about my bad haircut" or something way more toxic with the whole environment.
Will be interesting to see if anything comes from this.
Edit: I really should open the links before I post. They address the rumors and denials of his drinking issues in there. I didn't remember too many specifics but did recall that when he was out with an injury that required surgery and it sounded really nasty (an injury to his hand/finger where his wedding ring got caught on something during a fall or whatever and it could have been way worse) people were saying that the reason for the injury/fall was likely due to being drunk.
He also is kinda tied directly to the Horatio Sanz allegations from that one girl who said she would drink and party with them when underage and they were on SNL so if that isn't brought up already with this news I'm sure others will dig it up soon

Zach Creggor of WKUK fame and now Barbarian fame talked about Fallon on their Twitch stream once. He mentioned how they went out partying one day and that yes, Fallon parties hard. One night, they got into a playful scuffle when Fallon ended up nearly choking out Zach on the ground. Zach deleted mention of the incident on the twitch stream out of necessity as Barbarian started to blow up. I’m sure there are way more stories out there like that.

He showed up to one of the Goose shows at the Capitol theater in March and when he joined them for a song on stage he definitely fell over while singing. Seemed hammered. But that's a concert so kinda different.
Still I'm sure you're right about more having plenty of stories. That one in the article about Seinfeld telling him to apologize to the cue card guy felt awkward just reading about it
