Hi all, I'm a long time lurker. Have enjoyed reading all your opinions on artists, new recs, speculation on acts, etc. Finally decided to jump in after being bummed to miss out on tix through the normal purchase for the first time since 2015 (although we skipped last year bc our daughter was born July 6). Anyway, wanted to share what I'm reassuring myself with right now. Back in 2018 I signed up on Lyte pretty late for Friday tix and was nerdy enough to graph my progress in the queue. I'll add to the chorus saying that in the past the lyte queue has done the job just fine (single day ticket caveat for my experience), and it's amazing how fast it moved in the last month. Trying to share graph...
Data isn’t showing for me. Could you repost? I’d be interested to see this information.
Would be happy to, but clearly can't figure out how to post a picture. Any secret? I tried to use the insert picture button and drop a google image shared link in the URL space, but that clearly didn't work.

Maybe right click the image and select "Open image in new tab" and enter that URL? Sometimes those share links right from the Google search are wonky. If that's what you've already done, maybe the picture isn't in a shareable format.

A version of that seems to have worked, sorry for the enormous size
It feels like cheating, but I've always entered into Lyte one at a time and I've always been successful in my endeavors.
I would assume it shouldn’t matter because it’s a GA ticket. If you put in three orders separately, you’d be numbers (for example) 51, 52, and 53. If you request all together you’d still be numbers 51, 52, and 53. It would just determine whether Lyte charges you after each ticket or only charges you when all 3 become available, which would still happen sequentially.
I got in touch with Lyte via Twitter DM and they confirmed that it doesn't matter. They said you can only request 2 at a time, but they will fulfill in order, so if you requested 2 and they have one available, they will wait until there are 2 and fulfill your order before moving on to someone who needs only 1. So that's the answer for next year! I am #41 and 60, so I'm pretty optimistic that I'll get tickets.

But on Lyte, it says above where you select the quantity: "Parties of 1 are most likely to get tickets."

So as a long time attendee but a first-time shutout, can someone shed some light on #1299? Checked all day and then as soon as the school day ended went to coach. Of course it went live as I walked in to practice. Just hit me with my chances I'm a big boy. Just want to know if I should be hopeful or not. Thanks!
Where can I get the Bingo card? I'd like to please play.
There is no card. You can just send me your list of 48 acts and I will randomly distribute. If you do feel strongly about placement you can throw them into a 7x7 grid in sheets or excel.

Hm, I missed that, so that kinda sucks. I was told that it didn't matter and I even asked for clarification and they said they will wait and go in order and fulfill full requests before moving on down the list. But who knows who is answering Twitter DMs.

I know, I know trust the process. but Lyte went live when I had to go into work and I didn't get in until 3 hours later--now I'm number 1430. I've had less than 0 luck today.

I’m right there with you. I’m already planning on being a little more concerned than usual while booking an air bnb, aftershows (folk lord willing) etc but I WILL book those things because WE will be at the Fort experiencing the magic late July and early August.

That’s the spirit. We’re planning a trip home to see the fam with Newport as the back half anyway, so im sticking to the plan.

Curious if the 'regulars' that were shut out had tried for the membership and did not get it? The first year it was offered, the lottery for membership was capped at 1000 (assume that was inclusive of single, family, etc.) and participation appeared to be low as all i heard that submitted got in. Thinking after today's somewhat shocking non-success that perhaps memberships might be more scarce this year. (?) Have enjoyed the news letters, surveys, and also appreciate the few reminders during the year that donations are always welcome. One came out yesterday and once done it asked why did one choose to donate at that time. "In Jay we trust".
Last year there was a Big jump in the line for 3 days the week after xmas. Speculation was duplicates, and surprise gifts/sorry honey- can't goes.

I haven’t tried for the membership but I haven’t sought it out not because I wouldn’t be interested it’s more cause I have a hard time walking away. Last year was the first time I had to use Lyte for the festival and it worked well for me and I didn’t sign up immediately. I was able to purchase a Friday ticket last year at the public on sale and then signed up for a two day and two singles. The singles moved faster for what it’s worth to anyone trying.

No Fawn I did not try for the membership. The first year it was offered I went to the booth, thought it over and decided it would be best to hold off (after all I never had problems getting tickets in the past). I still don't regret that decision though I think it's a positive thing for NFF as well as the fans who want to take advantage of it.
I think the Lyte system is a really effective way for a Fest to keep the tickets affordable for the attendees. I'm grateful we have that system in place though I would really love to hear from someone who was wayyyy far down on the list last year and got in haha. From what others have said it seems like the Lyte numbers are way higher at this time this year than they were at the same time last year.
Just a fun reminder why I like announced lineups (the current way Newport does things is fine, but I hope they don’t move too far in the unannounced direction):
My Top 20 played songs on Spotify in 2019 included: - 7 Maggie Rogers songs - 1 HighWomen song - 2 Ruston Kelly songs - 2 Nilufer Yanya songs - 1 Angie McMahon song (a second just missed the list... if only I had more time to listen to her between her announcement and the fest) - 1 Lucy Dacus song
Additionally, even if minor, that’s revenue generated for these artists.

I listened to 12 hours of theOmys. Still listening.

But that’s true regardless, especially if this is a general note from Lyte. If any concerts they facilitate swaps for are seated, this would probably be true. And if the concert is not in much demand, and you put in for 2 tickets, but only 1 ticket becomes available... this would be true as well. But this is less of a worry for Newport unless day of concert rules around.

I had 2 Maggie songs and "In Your Head" by Nilufer in my top songs too.
My top 5 artists of the year was also pretty Newport-centric: Charley Crockett, Vampire Weekend, Bon Iver, Kevin Morby and Hiss (who was my most listened to of the decade)

High Sierra Festival is doing this for next year's fest, too. I love it.

Yep. Last year I didn’t sign up for Lyte until early evening and started at #511. This year we signed probably less than 30 minutes after it went live and are 800 and something..... not feeling very hopeful, tbh, even though we have moved up a few spots. If we make it this year, I think we’ll definitely go the membership route, even though we’ve said that the past 2 years and never have made the time to go to the tent.
