Yeah. I didn't even consider him as a possible really. As much shit as Collins and Murkowski get for saying they're gonna make a stand against Trump right before they fold, Alexander is probably worse about it. He made it seem like he was going to vote his conscience on his farewell tour but has turned even harder into marching in lockstep with the rest.
My answer for that is Marquita Bradshaw.
Btw, if you haven't seen, she's got official endorsements from Sanders and Warren in the last couple days. In a weird Tennessee fact, either we've never had a senator from west Tennessee or it's been a really long time. You'd think it'd happen just bc Memphis is big but I guess not.
I don’t know if this is the best course of action right now with the government funding bill coming up and they still need to pass some relief for Covid. It would probably cause a government shutdown for a really long time, which also isn’t popular. It would be a gamble for sure.
McConnell rejected the bill, due to missing funding for a fund for "farmers" that the trump admin called an "unaccountable political slush fund".
That's just too easy. These people do not give the first fuck about who these folks actually are. This is all reactionary horseshit to muzzle any notion of uprising.
I don't really get this tough talk "he just sealed the deal on losing in Colorado." That court seat is worth losing a place in the Senate. They'll have a fallback that can fuck with progressive legislation for decades. No reason to think someone like Gardner or Collins won't fall on the sword. Not like they won't be taken care of.
Fuck, moderate Democrats will have a new excuse not to try. What's the use of passing progressive bills when the court is likely to strike them down?
The New York tweets about being in an anarchist jurisdiction are priceless. Had me rolling on the floor. Go find them. Thanks for never letting me down New Yorkers, your spirit can never be broken, even by this asshole.

Romney is behind voting for an SC nominee. Hopefully the Dems recognize this just means they have to do things the hard way. I have no faith that's what they'll actually do.
This is from my precinct's sample ballot. I've ruled out voting Jorgegnsen/Cohen, Trump/Pence, Blankenship/Mohr, West/Tidball. I don't know enough about the rest (except Biden/Harris) to make a decision yet. I guess I have 6 weeks.

Was just reading about how many civil rights laws were passed by congress in the 1870s but struck down in the 1880s. And how a lot of what happened in the 1950s and 60s (80 years later...) was just making back ground that was lost decades earlier. Seems relevant.

They probably had the votes all along. The Murkowski and Collins stuff is for show.

Of course they fucking did. The only real question is if they'd do it before the election.

Didn't know Kanye was running under the Birthday Party, lmao
It's actually amazing how fucking owned the Democrats have been the last decade. How can anyone have faith in this shit anymore?
You're nearly a laugh but you're really a cry
This is really on one person, though, and that's Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Obama tried to get her to resign, and I think the only critique you have of that is that he worked hard enough to make her life miserable enough to make her quit. A famously stubborn person making an incredibly selfish decision that is going to affect the lives of millions. The fact that people are celebrating her right now makes me sick.

RBG is certainly a factor, but it goes far deeper. Democrats have been approving Republican budgets all decade, rolling over and letting Republicans do whatever the fuck they want. There is no resistance.

The budget stuff isn't so black and white. The Republicans shutting down the government over a Democratic budget serves two benefits for them: 1. Getting their way and taking control of the process, but 2. Taking away money from poor people and the elderly for as long as the government is shutdown. This second part is critical to think about because it is an enormous positive for Republicans and a horrible thing for society writ large! The Dems don't shut down budget stuff because the GOP could quickly call their bluff and be happy to starve poor people as long as humanly possible.

Understandable, but Dems have just been completely shifting to the right at any opportunity they can take. The only times they end up on the correct side of issues is when it's become too bad to ignore, and even then they aren't doing too well (see Medicare for all).
I hope we aren't about to do that thing again where we blame the beloved civil rights icon for not backing down early enough when the real problem is the fascist dictator cult leaders and their followers.
Or that thing where we refuse to accept or join sides with the imperfect moderates who are backed by the largest number of American voters that aren't within said fascist dictator cult.
