This promo for the new Robyn single is ridiculous in the best way. A couple of the fan testimonials touch on something I really like about her music which is how ambiguous her lyrics are, like they’re designed to elicit multiple interpretations. Do It Again is a pretty obvious example.
I've found myself goin back and listening to Robyn again bcus of the recent talk on here and I think I've moved into the mindset where I'm gonna be super letdown if she's not at Coachella now. Which is a completely irrational way to approach this lineup. Fuck.
So with Justin Timberlake most likely the only guarantee. I could easily see some misinformation similar to last year. Chainsmokers was foolishly debated and believed to be a headliner or sub-headliner. Sounds like the same scenario this time around with Childish Gambino.
I understand he is a headliner at ACL, but Chella headliners mostly dwarf other festivals. For instance, Halsey headlining at GOV Ball! She would be a second line name for sure at chella!
Usually they do a good job at keeping some secrets underwraps.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Rihanna coming back into the limelight for a Friday performance, followed by Justin Timberlake Saturday, and someone like Kanye West Sunday night.
I get there is no major rock headliners, but after radiohead and the non-rock headliners last year there doesn't seem to be momentum in that direction.
Gambino has been confirmed by multiple sources, IIRC. I believe Chainsmokers mainly came up from that random guy on Reddit.

One year without rawk headliners doesn't necessarily mean there's no momentum.
Wait until the third headliner is Metallica. It's going to be a great time.
Normally I’d say Outdoor but looking at his live production and the stages he played at Sonar and D4N, I could see him preferring the Mojave.
The stage he played at D4N is a huge reason why I’d say outdoor, but I don’t know if he pulls a crowd like that at Coachella so ou are probably right. Radiohead’s crowd probably could have fit in the Mojave so why not Thom’s.

Just want to clarify for anyone that may not realize this is hyperbole, Radiohead had a decent crowd last year.
I also heard Thom's 2010 solo performance packed the entire outdoor field, but I realize lots has changed since then.

Didn’t Thom specifically request to play the blue stage indoors rather than the bigger red stage outdoors at D4N? If so I could see Thom asking for the Mojave instead as well. It would be packed out but it could provide a better environment if that’s what he’s looking for.

Yes I was in fact jokin’ round. I’m curious if that’s weekend one or two and at what point during the show though. We walked up pretty close right before their set time weekend 2 and it was nice and spread out like LCD. Day for Night was a small shit show for his set which is why I lean towards the outdoor.. I usually can’t see the artist for whole performances because I’m short but everyone else was sour about the crowd being to big for that stage.

Didn’t know it was a request, he seemed unhappy too. But if so then Mojave it is I guess.
