With: 1. All the promoting GV is doing for all these Vampire Weekend surprise shows around Southern California, 2. The fact they are playing no/little new material at any of those shows, and 3. They seem like they are really tinkering and taking their time with the new album and it's getting late to announce a full fall tour ... I'm starting to think we'll get no/little touring from VW outside of festival shows in 2018 and they launch their album promotion tour 2019 at Coachella as a sub.

Yeah I have them as subbing. They make the most sense out of any artist right now if we’re just going off given info that isn’t a legit scoop.

I just want Deafheaven to be confirmed already so I can start wishing which headliner they play against.
Wouldn't count on Deafheaven. They countered Calvin Harris to a near empty tent in 2016 (I was probably one of 100 people in there) and I saw them at my hotel pool Sunday morning and they just all kind of looked like fish out of water. I'd put them in the "yeahhhh we did that once..." type band camp.

Alright i just got Iglooghost as a top suggestion for me on YouTube so I checked it out and if we don’t get him next year I’m going to angrily kick a tree
If those three pan out, I cringe for the rest of the 2019 American festival headliners.
Eh outside of Beyoncé I didn’t like this years headliners and I’m very content with getting to see Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys, Jack White and The National headline Lolla in a few weeks.
Already headlined Roo (top line on posters at bonnaroo.com) Arcade Fire (2011) Black Keys (2011) Jay Z (2010) Kings of Leon (2010) Kendrick Lamar (2015) Dave Matthews Band (2010) Paul McCartney (2013) Metallica (2008) Mumford & Sons (2015) Phish (2012) Radiohead (2012) Bruce Springsteen (2009) Tool (2008) Kanye West (2014) Jack White (2014) Widespread Panic (2011) Stevie Wonder (2010) Neil Young (2003)
Previously played but never headlined (most recent billing) 21 Pilots (#26 in 2015) Adele (#80 in 2008) Arctic Monkeys (#9 in 2014) Beck (#4 in 2006) Chainsmokers (#18 in 2016) Childish Gambino (#10 in 2015) Florence and the Machine (#5 in 2015) Nine Inch Nails (#4 in 2009) Frank Ocean (#10 in 2014) Post Malone (#69 in 2016) Travis Scott (#9 in 2017) Zac Brown Band (#22 in 2010)
Other possibilities The 1975 Beyonce Eric Clapton Coldplay Drake The Eagles Fleetwood Mac Foo Fighters Gorillaz Ariana Grande Green Day Guns N' Roses Calvin Harris Imagine Dragons Iron Maiden Lady Gaga Bruno Mars Katy Perry REM Rihanna Rolling Stones Ed Sheeran Sia Taylor Swift Justin Timberlake Roger Waters The Who
stealing this helpful list from the headliner thread. not many left that are considered interesting to music people. i bolded the acts i'd be interested in seeing at a festival, but even most of those are just acts i've seen a bunch and still like, or acts that i would see to check them off the list. nothing particularly exciting outside of REM.
the festival headliner outlook has been bleak for a while. undercards gotta get stronger to compensate. at least at coachella you know the undercard will be good.
