Edit: nothing fits the Coachella brand until Coachella does it. Like Drake as a headliner was unfathomable in 2014. But I also think the idea that Dead Co would only work at a hippie-oriented fest isn’t really true anymore.
I wouldn’t say Drake was unfathomable at all. He’s one of the top names in hip-hop and he played a festival who’s had some of the top names in hip-hop. It felt inevitable.
The fact that Bob has been to Coachella twice is by something I knew when I brought this up.
I wasn't inferring anything about what you knew when you brought anything up, just replying to the photo itself, also because that interview is pretty cool.
For the record I am 100% behind Dead & Co at Coachella

Oh ya, I was just saying that wasn’t a factor in me bringing it up, just that all the critical acclaim they’ve been getting lately makes it feel like the time is right for a multi-genre festival to try again with them.
Kaboo Cayman Islands - which is I guess Kaboo festival in Cayman Islands? - just announced for February 2019 with The Chainsmokers, Zedd, and Duran Duran headlining.
Did we already dodge the Chainsmokers bullet in May?!
Book Stevie Wonder sometime. I would catch him again.
Oh man. MGM is opening a tiny shitty casino in my city this fall and announced today that Stevie Wonder is gonna play a concert for the event. I've been pointlessly arguing with yokels on facebook who are saying MGM should've booked someone bigger, like Godsmack or Aaron Lewis.
There's no "Coachella headliner model." It's whatever is available that they want to book, preferably what will dominate the news cycle as the smaller lineups announce.
That's why I still think there's a chance Drake plays, because it'll be an event in a "what will Drake do to actually crush Coachella this time?" way, though it's unlikely with their tour.
Think we still get one big rock band, one big rap/pop act, and an AM or Florence or Mumford (gasp) promote.

i like that over the past few years we've gotten to know Bob better as a person. i've been a Dead fan for about twenty years, but never got to into the details of the individual band members' personalities. after watching The Other One documentary, the Long Strange Trip documentary, and reading interviews with Bob like the one you posted, it surprised me how intelligent and wise he is. i guess even i can look at a picture of someone who looks like Bobby and just assume his brain is completely burnt out. But the truth is, while he has those far away intense acid eyes, his mind is right.
it's sad that Bobby was able to take his experience, survive, and convert that experience into wisdom, while Jerry was unable to do so. although I understand Jerry's burdens were different than Bobby's.
judging by that interview, seems like Monet is an intelligent young person as well.

One more hit from the upcoming album and I can totally see Gambino headlining.
He's already there.
Last album with the Gambino monicker, he’s one of the biggest names in pop culture, and he’s actually good. In my eyes GV should be goin hard for Gambino. He’s also not popping up everywhere, so for the time being it looks like a rare get.
