He said Tyler asked if he could do 2-3 songs but do you mind if I rock the stage? That means he is doing more than 2-3 songs. It was just a very very bad set up. But I wish people didn’t boo and just went home. I had fun but towards the end I just decided to go home once I realized no one was coming after
Completely wrong

Yeah, Flog is very niche. Had there been any communication on booking an artist who is off-brand of the festival this could have been completely avoided.
It's also a crowd of teenagers. God knows when I went to Lolla at the age of 18 I could have been more respectful to the staff when they were trying to evacuate us. I just saw them as trying to take away from the experience that I paid a ton for and looked forward to for months.

It was even a good set, especially for drake live
You guys ASSUMED lmao. I was there. He said he was asked to do a couple songs but wanted to do a set. That wasn’t a decision he made on the spot. He made that whenever he and Tyler decided this would happen. It only sucks cause expecting frank. At any other hip hop adjacent festival this set goes off and everyone wants him as long as he will be there. At Flog that’s not the case. It was a tone def mistake by Tyler but the crowd still looked entitled with the booing. Take yo ass home lmao. It’s not even about drake’s feelings, he’s rich. You’re ruining it for the rest of the crowd.

I watched a stream of the entire thing last night, and even being at home I was wondering why Drake was still on stage. Rocky didn't get booed, Uzi didn't get booed, and Drake didn't get booed his first few songs in. I still think if the show just started with Drake and nobody else he would have been fine. The audience would have gone "ah fuck it's a Drake concert not Frank". But instead everyone was super anxious for him to leave.

Bro you told us it wasn’t drake yourself lol. On this very thread
It wasn’t a decision on the spot, he was the last artist there (that’s what security said and someone else who confirmed drake on Saturday)
Drake is a moron for making it seem like there was another act, of not he wouldn’t have been bood off. Rather see drake for 15 more min than nothing
And the crowd was fine for most parts, especially in first 5-10 rows (where I was), people were moving there a lot
People who thought Drake was the opening act for anyone are pretty naive. People who thought that the notoriously particular Frank Ocean was going to pop out and just launch into a reflective set with no sound check after a series of high energy hip hop acts are completely delusional.
Everyone looks bad in this whole thing. The fans for being so disrespectful (even before it went to hell with Drake, they were jeering and calling for Frank after the initial high of A$AP or Uzi wore off), and Tyler and the event organizers for not seeing this whole thing coming.
Once the hype around Frank on social started to get out of hand, Tyler should have said something to tamp it down. I don't see how saying "It's big, but it's not Frank" would have kept them from selling this thing out. And once it was sold out, they should have announced the act by at least Day 1 of the festival, so as to keep the on-site hype from spinning out of control. People casually saying "If it's not Frank, we're going to boo" on Twitter a few days before the festival is not the same organizing draw as people spending a whole day and half talking up how they're going to react on the CFG grounds. They did that to themselves.
If I feel bad for anyone, it's the fans who would have legit enjoyed the Drake set if it was held under different circumstances, and to a much lesser extent Drake himself (and I have no been a fan of him recent years). Dude was out there trying to make the most of a negative situation -- and was trying to work the crowd, it just backfired.
The gross part is despite everyone saying "What a disaster, ticket sales next year will take a hit" the vast majority of the people booing in the crowd last night are out there bragging about it today, and will buy a ticket next year, and bring their friends because of that epic time they got to boo Drake off the stage.
TLDR: Everyone sucks, and festivals should avoid mystery headliners.

The mystery headliner thing worked for Ultra with Swedish House Mafia because it was BLATANTLY obvious. Some could argue all signs pointed to Frank Ocean for this secret set. I think CFG/Tyler/etc. could've alleviated the situation by revealing the mystery the day before or day of the show. Or, post more obvious hints at Drake.
Even if not Frank, it would have been a better turn out if it was a more Flog friendly artist. Like a Kendrick wouldn't have been booed off, even with disappointment of it not being Frank.
I also wonder how much of this had to do with Tyler/CFG not being able to afford a regular Drake show and how much Drake was doing him a solid.
It genuinely felt like CFG actually didn't have a second headliner at the time of the line up drop. Maybe targeted a person or multiple people that didn't work out, got close to the fest date and Drake did it mostly as a favor. I feel like a full on Drake set would have at least had some type of stage set up or personalized screens or something.

I’d assume radius clauses ruled out all of the Day N Vegas headliners, right?
1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/4: knock2 3/7: Inhaler* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
I feel bad for Frank. His fan base has become pretty unbearable.
Yeah kinda but he doesn't exactly do a lot for his fans. He's making a ton of money off this by selling expensive merchandise but as someone who bought a Hangout ticket almost exclusively for him I do kinda feel jerked around. I just really want to see one of my favorite artists of all time and would likely have gone to this fest had I could have because it really did seem like he would play. So yeah, it looks bad on Frank, but it is also kind of on him for being incredibly difficult to see and predict.

I get the Hangout thing, but he literally never mentioned CFG or hinted at playing this. I don't see how this looks bad on him.

I just feel like this wouldn't happen if he actually played shows like a normal artist. He would still have some crazies but for the most part people wouldn't take big risks like this for him. I agree the rumor isn't his fault but it's a fairly reasonable assumption he plays his former group member's music festival when he finally starts being more active a few weeks beforehand.

yeah frank is the clear winner of this whole debacle. idk how any of it is on him.
