QOTSA, The National, and AM being promoted to headline mid-tier fests is the great wrong to be righted this festival season (and far more exciting than tired acts like Eminem, Jack White, and The Killers).

I think it goes without saying that Arctic Monkeys are going to hit the summer fest circuit hard this year, tour all fall, and then when any sort of interest in seeing them on this leg has dried up they'll get booked as Roo headliners a year late. It's the Roo way.

Now lets see if the general population shows up to see these acts. The National might be the toughest sell of all three considering they've yet to produce a "hit" the general attendee might recognize.
I dig this lineup a lot. It does fall off pretty hard but this is much better than last years lineup for my tastes. For what it's worth, the majority of my group (about 20 people) are real hype on the lineup.
I know most people shit on MGMT too but damn am I excited they're on here.
The people that say this usually never saw them live. The one time I saw them was in 2012 at Firefly and the audience was not too happy with them... Especially when they didn't even play kids

the more i dive into it the more i dig this lineup. yeah theres 100% a drop off around line 3 but there are enough gems sprinkled throughout the undercard to keep me entertained. combine that with Kendrick, Arctic Monkeys, and Odesza, im getting close to pulling the trigger on this.
checking them out now, pretty funny to see that one of their albums on spotify is "Live at Firefly 2013"
Up and coming funk jam band. They were on the lower cards or not even on the radar of jam fests two years ago. Played the small stages at those fests last year. Now doing national headline tours and moving up to second or early main stages on the jam scene. They've moved up very quickly. Good live show. I'm seeing them next week for the second time after seeing them on the small stage at Peach last year.

I use this video to protest anyone who shits on them live. Put them on in the dark with a solid crowd and I don't think you'll have a problem. Especially with what's shaping up to be a very good album on the horizon

I was surprised Shaky Knees booked them to headline again. It was a great show but by the end of it half of the crowd had left. Not sure if it's changed much in 4 years.

They sound like a hybrid of STS9, UM, and Lettuce to me. At least based off their 2017 live album.

Have you seen them live before?
Yup seen them live 4 times and enjoyed it every time. Part of why I said I know people shit on MGMT.

so am I. Just saw them at Pano and they were decent/good, but their new song is pretty great and id be totally down to see them again.
Yea I was at that Pano show as well and thought it was pretty solid for a 50 min festival set while the sun was still up.

yeah i remember catching the first like half hour of that set then booking it over to Tyler, The Creator. Had a much better time at Tyler, but MGMT was pretty good imo and will be more fun at a fest like Firefly.

I'm still bummed I missed that Tyler set, but I'm going to coachella this year and planning on catching him there if the schedule works out.
