Would be nice to get back to more alt rock, but with EDC moving up to May, I feel like there will be quite a bit more EDM this year.
Idk EDC never stopped artists who wanted to do both, to do both. Its really easy to travel from place to place as a DJ, I know last year Marshmello played a 8:30 set until 10 pm at Made In America, then played a DJ set at a Vegas Club later that night.

My formula would be something like 70% Shaky Knees + 30% Okeechobee. Majority alt rock with some EDM/jam/folk/rap mixed in. I guess that's sort of what it is now, they just don't do as good of a job booking the right artists lol.
My afternoon musings on potential artists include Paramore and Brockhampton.
Paramore has been rumored in past years plus they have a new-ish album and would be a great fit all around.
Brockhampton would be a great hip hop option considering the pool of potential artists. I'd bet Firefly at least made an offer on them whether or not they succeeded in booking.
This would be a smart booking. Active pop punk nostalgia band to fill the mid-day Main Stage slot that (I would think) doesn't cost as much as Blink 182. Fat Lip alone would be a crowd-wide smile fest.

Firefly should always have an element of nostalgia to the lineup.
Dashboard, Offspring, Yellowcard, Paramore, Sum 41, Bowling for Soup would all get big crowds. Same goes for those summery 90's bands like Vertical Horizon and Everclear.
Those shows are great because I'd never go to a standalone show of theirs, but sure I'd party to them in the sun for an hour.

It does seem that they've been trying to do a little bit of this now. Ever since Ludacris in 2016 with his blistering 1 PM show

You know what would be an even smarter booking? A Sum 41 cover band.

Just now realizing your Sum 41 comment was a troll. Different strokes I suppose.
Wasnt Dude Ranch and Girl At The Rock Show a big hit last year?
I still can't believe they booked a Blink 182 cover band the year after they booked actual Blink 182. I'd bet it was still a fun set
Putting that cover band and like 30 other small acts all on the poster was such a mistake. Most of them played in the Hub area next to the showers or on some traveling flatbed truck.

They were a tribute band, get it right!!! (Ugh, can’t believe i said that out loud) (facepalm)
Hey mg why does the Firefly website message board link redirect to the reddit page? Is that now the official message board for Firefly? Haha.
We are changing the platform of the message board entirely and that's just temporary for now to give people some place to go until it's ready. Those guys do a decent job, so there's no harm in throwing some traffic their way.

Pretty much what I figured but thought I'd ask anyway.

I tend to bounce back and forth and compare what people are talking about on here and on there.

Who do you like better tho?
Not to be wishy washy, but I do like both for different reasons. Plus, they're two different formats, so the content is slightly different. On here, I like the amount of users with a genuine, detailed interest in music and they tend to be very knowledgeable. On there, the subject matter tends to be more towards Firefly and festivals in general, but is still interesting. I'm hoping that our new official forum will be a nice mix of both.

I can summarize both quick for you:
Inforoo thread- complaining about everything and persistent pessimism Reddit- POST MALONE PLZ!
Edit- Reddit isn't that bad. But you see a lot more "Facebook like" posts
That's the other thing. A festival online forum is a living breathing thing, depending on where you are in the festival timeline. On lineup days, schedule days and the first day of ticket sales you'll see heated threads where vitriol holds sway, whereas in the off season everyone is pretty quiet.
