Asked if it's true that there was talk of SABBATH doing the show, Iommi said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yes, there was. But I didn't, at that point… It's hard, because Ozzy's [Osbourne, SABBATH singer] been going through a lot of stuff lately. He's in hospital and out of hospital, and he's really been fighting it; he really wants to get out there. But in my mind, it's very difficult to sort of say yes. I've gotta think of the people in the band as well. I've gotta think of Ozzy, if he's gonna be all right to do a show and whatever. So I wasn't that comfortable with it. But I didn't know Ozzy [chuckles] would be doing it on his own. But it's great. I hope he can do it and that it'll be really good. He really wants to do it. And he's really trying to pull to get himself back. He's had to go through such a lot of hard stuff lately. It's such a shame, really. But he's still fighting there."
Pressed to confirm that the original lineup of SABBATH was asked to play Power Trip but that he eventually decided against it, Tony said: "Yeah. Sort of, yeah. I mean, we hadn't approached the others as far as doing it. They might have said no. But it didn't get much further than me, really. But, yeah, that's the way it is.
Single day tickets are coming soon. Had a chat with somebody about it last night.
You think this is a good or bad sign for ticket sales so far?
They sold single days to Desert Trip. But in this case itll help sales because Im sure some people dont wanna fork over the money for all 3 if they can just go to one day. The Tool and Metallica day is going to be a draw.

brutal. looks like tony iommi was right in declining the sabbath reunion. i feel for ozzy big time. i know he wants to go out on his own terms but dont think its gonna happen.
Interpol & The Walkmen 11.23 I Am Morbid/Suffocation 11.26 King Diamond 11.29 Sadistic Intent/Massacre 11.30 70K Tons Of Metal 2025 Hell's Heroes 2025 Sick New World 2025 Maryland Deathfest 2025
They are pretty limited with options since this was being touted as a classic heavy metal festival (plus Tool). Slipknot at Riot Fest made more sense than them here but gotta go with what you have.

Even though they're not metal, Aerosmith is pretty much the only act big enough to fill that slot or at least closest to it. Anybody else would be quite a downgrade.
Robert Plant was spotted at the first Desert trip, he did some David Lynch show that week, and if Jimmy could do just a couple songs then its game on. I do note that Page was apparently seen in the crowd for the recent Jeff Beck Royal Albert Hall tribute - a good sign he's really done.
I was thinking they would fill out the lineup with a proper Alice Cooper Group exclusive US show, Judas and maybe the current Deep Purple.
Im not suggesting KISS, but they have a big Australian show that weekend.
Maybe Ozzy pops up with Metallica, like the RRHOF gig in 2009 at MSG in New York.
Angus Young has not been seen onstage at a gig in 6-7 years and I think he's been silent since the album late 2020 album promo. Brian is the only 100% confirmed ACDC member doing Power Trip.

They have a gap from September 27 through October 11 that would work.

It's not an AC/DC gig without Angus. He is absolutely playing

I think hes the only one who has done every show. I think Cliff did every show since 1977.
3 months out from Power Trip and the Angus-Phil-Cliff question is far from obvious.
Eddie Trunk seemed to think Crue was the likely replacement but I can't imagine GV has any interest in fat Vince stumbling around the stage pretending to sing.
