A fine actor but the older inforoosters remember him best for squealing like a pig and having a purdy mouth.
I've avoided that movie like the plague. Is it actually good or just notable for that?
It’s definitely worth watching. The suspense factor is disturbing to some—my wife hates this movie. Unlike some far fetched suspense movies this film always seemed like “this could actually happen”. It was nominated for 3 Oscars including best picture. Lost best picture to The Godfather. Lost best director Oscar to Bob Fosse (cabaret) and best film editing to Cabaret. Do NOT watch this one with your kids. But enjoy a well crafted film. Looking over the oscars that year I would argue Dueling Banjos is a song that outlasted all the Oscar songs nominated that year.
Ok for those who thought Ned Beatty in Deliverance was too sleazy for eulogy how about a RIP for Frank Bonner? Frank nailed the role of sleazy Herb Tarlek on WKRP in Cincinnati. I hope all the radio folks wear a shiny white belt and white shoes tomorrow to work.

Stuart Damon, who played Alan Quartermaine for 30 years on General Hospital. I watched roughly half of those years, from when I was about seven or so to when I was in my early twenties.

Yeah. I go back to when he was married to Monica. I generally hated soap operas, but the lengthy writers strike that brought out the whole Isle of Casedine scenario that merged fantasy with the story then went through Luke & Laura's wedding. Haha. Some old shit blast from the past. I remember Edward Quartermaine who was Alan's father who always had a drink. Damn, that's going back to like 1980-1982. After it went back to just being a "story", I quit watching it. But I didn't know anyone in high school who wasn't tuned in back in those days. And soaps were things for our grandmothers (my mom hated them). I think Luke and Laura's wedding was watched by something like 25-30 million people which was an all time record (and probably still is) for a daytime soap.

I'm guessing this is the Edward Quartermaine you're referring to, when he was played by David Lewis:
That Edward was before my time. The Edward when I watched was John Ingle, who also appeared as, among many other things, Robert Dunder on the Office, the principal in Heathers, and, most near and dear to my heart, the Preacher in True Stories.
Yeah it was David Lewis. Crazy era. So the writers guild went on strike and they had to bring "scabs" in to write for all the daytime shows. Obviously GH went off the rails but in a good way. Mikkos Cassadine (who was married to Liz Taylor who briefly was on the show for that role) had this island thing where they could control weather. He had 3 sons who were in on it with him. They had a device that could control weather and made it snow in the summer in Port Charles (which is set in VA I think) and so Luke and Robert Scorpio had to figure shit out and stop them from whatever ends they were seeking (money and domination). That era also brought among others, John Stamos into the mainstream and also Demi Moore was on there in that run (82-84).
Bummer. A lot of big films from my youth went through this guy. He showed up for the virtual Goonies reunion last year and it seemed like the cast adored him.
There was a meme going around recently that said something about gen x and older millennials being raised watching tv shows that weren’t meant for us just because they were on. Night Court ran from when I was 5 to when I was 13, and I watched it regularly.

I loved Night Court. I was 9 when it aired. Dan Larroquette was the first actor I saw on television that was from my hometown.
