I have a small RV and went to Bonnaroo for the first time in the VIP section. Overall I had a great time but I think I would've had every bit as much fun had I just stayed in the regular campground.
We got there a little late Thursday and our RV parking was just about as far away from the entrance as the regular RV parking would've been.
The complimentary dinner was cheap nasty food, we just left it and went for the delicious food trucks.
The air-conditioned VIP tents weren't cool at all during the hot of the day when you needed them, it was cooler in the shade of a tree.
The hill it's kind of nice but it wasn't so crowded in front of the What stage that you couldn't just walk up and be even closer easily. And the beer and amenities at the hill weren't very special so we ended up walking out of the VIP area frequently anyway for other types of food and beverage.
The free showers were nice but they're only five or $10 in the regular section, I don't know what the experience was in the regular section but except in the middle of the night the hot water was ice cold. The bathrooms were nice but we had an RV so we really didn't need them anyway.
The VIP food program I heard was pretty good food, but the food trucks and food and Centeroo was delicious fairly priced and we didn't want to walk back to the campground much anyway so that served us better.
Having a dedicated entrance and exit was very nice, but there was never a long line as far as getting into Centeroo that I saw for anyone, and we arrived in the middle of the day Thursday and there was no line for anyone so that wasn't going to be a problem. I guess if you were going to get there first thing Thursday morning the dedicated entrance might be important. And we left Sunday night after the Grateful Dead, there was no exit line on either side although I'm sure the next morning the dedicated exit would've been nice
Overall I had a great time and I'll surely go back depending on the lineup but I'm not sure VIP is all that special.
For this year, all your points are valid cause the venue wasn't that crowded. The year Paul McCartney played, I believe the VIP entrance really saved us some time.
Will be interesting to see if the numbers come back or not.
VIP is really all about location, location, location. That's most of the value of the ticket, a guaranteed camping spot close to centeroo.
While VIP RV is closer to centeroo than GA RV, I agree GA RV isn't that bad as far as distance is concerned. If I ever did RV I'd go GA. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks for the input! To be honest VIP is worth it if you are just car camping. The amenities and location are worth it in this case, and if you are able to pony up the additional $. I probably wont do an RV for Roo again (either GA or VIP) because they are simply too much effort to maintain unless you have a top of the line model.

I am all about the VIP. Location is perfect, the perks are worth it and even though the bathrooms weren't AS good as last year, never having to wait in a line to go and it be clean is the selling point for me. Plus, free ice cream! Until they have permanent bathrooms all over in GA I am VIP.

I had disastrous GA entries (like 6-8 hour waits) in 09 and 2010 which also resulted being camped miles away from the entry (like a solid 30 minute walk). I did VIP in 2011 and continued in all my years (last went in 2014) just for ease of entry/exit, proximity to Centeroo, and closeness to stage at Which (especially when they swapped out bleachers for a pit).
I couldn't fathom going back to GA but then again I have not had the added luxury if RV camping
