Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Hello! I thought I'd stop by Inforoo to invite you all to this year's Reddaroo Craft Beer Exchange! Reddaroo is a big ol' Groop Camp of people who met via Reddit. We'll once again be holding the craft beer exchange where we invite you to bring your favorite cans of craft beer to exchange with others favorites from across the country (and occasionally world)!
I've linked to all the officialness below, but here's the basic rules:
Where: Camp Reddaroo (Pod 7). We've been placed right in the front in past years, we're pretty obvious.
When: Friday morning, 10:30.
Canned beer only - per Bonnaroo rules, no glass is allowed!
1:1 trade. If you bring a 6 pack, you can snag 6 back. If you bring all tall boys and grab some shorties, I'm not against you grabbing an extra. If you bring all shorties, don't go through and 1:1 all tall boys. Just be fair. I really don't want to have to micro-manage this shit.
Micro-brewery/Craft beer ONLY. You know full well what craft beer is. I know some beers (like Goose Island, Ballast Point, etc) are getting more and more nationally distributed so some things that were impossible to find last year are everywhere this year. Be smart, be kind, be generous! (Sam Adam's Boston Lager is officially NOT a craft beer per this exchange. Don't make me hurt you).
Popular regional beers/foreign beers can potentially count even if they're not craft. Yuengling and Old Style are good examples. Please do not abuse this by bringing a case of Old Style and snagging 30 crafts "because you said 1:1!". Regarding foreign beers, afaik macro Canadian beers are pretty easy to come by in the US so please don't bring a case of Molson and claim you've got something super-rare. I love me a good Molson, but I can get it at Walmart. If you have a question about this, ask me and I'll let you know if something fits within the appropriate parameters
We'll also be having the raffle again and I've confirmed that Crazy Mountain Brewery, our biggest supporter last year, will be returning with more raffle donations (and hopefully more of that tasty beer!)
The whole thing is pretty much on the honor system (I pay attention, but I don't police it), so I just ask that people follow the spirit of the rules and be kind and stuff so I can avoid having to micro-manage it.
ALSO! If you are a brewer or know a brewer who would like to donate to the raffle, donate beer or just stop by and participate, we welcome them! Last year we had a couple of breweries send some reps by to exchange beer, hand out stickers, pins and other freebies, and generally hang out and have a good time.
Feel free to leave any questions here for me and I'll try to remember to check back in this afternoon. If I'm posting in the wrong place, please feel free to show me the door
This was just the thread I was looking for! Thanks for posting all the details. It's my first Roo and when I saw there was a craft exchange it was on my top "To Do"!

I haven't drank in some time but have you seen those commercials where they blind taste test people with Sam Adam's Boston Lager and the people drinking it (who all look pretty young and cool and have beards, its clear they know about fancy beers) are all like "I can taste the hops, it has nice color" or whatever, and then the commercial people are like "oooooooohhhh it's sam adams boston lager" and the cool young people are like "for real wow I need to drink more sam adams boston lager"? makes you think.
in all seriousness thanks for stopping by and inviting us.

Yeah, but as a self-proclaimed beer snob I've never had anythin' great from them. They're certainly not the worst brewery (lookin' at you New Belgium); they're just extremely middle of the road.

New Belgium puts out way better beers than Sam Adams it's not even close.

Unfortunately very little of Sam Adams' regularly available beers are worth a damn. The rarer stuff is pretty solid though.
That being said, craft brewing - at least on the east coast - owes Sam Adams, Harpoon and Allagash a shitload of gratitude, because I don't think it would be anywhere near what it is without those three opening the floodgates 20-30 years ago.

Incorrect. NB has cancelled (accordin' to my local rep) their only halfway decent beer (1554 black lager). I continue to give them a chance and sample their new product when my bar puts it on, but I'm always disappointed. If I went to a party and was told I didn't need beer, and then found out all they had was NB shit I would leave. I would drive over an hour away to get better beer if I had to. If I could meet their brewmaster face-to-face I would give that fool a piece of my mind a a 12-pack of beer they should aspire to. If their marketin' department wasn't loaded this brewery would never have gone anywhere.

I no longer live in a state the gets NB, but I'm surprised to see them cancel 1554, it seemed quite popular in CO and I thought it was their best beer in the regular lineup. I enjoy their rampant ipa more than any Sam ipa I've had. I also think their lips of faith series is better than anything Sam has to offer. Either way though I'm not going to buy anything from either brewery if I can help it.

No problem! I actually don't hate Sam Adam's, it's just kinda everywhere which defeats the purpose of having the exchange to try new things
Since I posted this I've also created a Facebook Event to help people keep track of it if they're interested in going. Feel free to join it if you want, but it's not required: www.facebook.com/events/1018935301547811/
