I love to bag on the Killers as much as the next person, but Hot Fuss is a legit great album. It was a trendsetter in its day. It's just they've pumped out a decade of diminishing returns since them. They're surviving on brand recognition alone at this point.
I like Sam's Town even more, but that's not a huge surprise because it definitely has some boring barn going on
After that it's mostly down hill.
That said Human is a great single and I will hear no arguments against it
Muse use to be seriously good. Matt Bellamy is incredibly talented.
Muse had 3 great albums in a row. Origin of Symmetry > Absolution > Black Holes and Revelations. Showbiz and Resistance have their good and bad moments (I prefer Showbiz of the 2). They have delved too far into synth pop for my tastes the last couple.
That being said, I would be ecstatic to finally get Muse on the farm. To get New Born, Plug in Baby, Knights of Cydonia, Stockholm Syndrome, Time is Running Out, Take a Bow (please!!!), and countless others would be amazing.

To those who have given up on the powers at be behind Bonnaroo, which acts would make you change your mind and return to the farm? What's a realistic top six that would make you come back? Or are the top six not the problem?

It's the Top 10 with a solid undercard. I understand we won't get 2014 again with so many great acts that the conflicts make you wish they just didn't book some artists but I still want a better top 10 than this year. Realistically with acts that could be touring next year I would sell my Coachella ticket and go to this for: One major headliner that is not at every festival such as Roger Waters, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake Arcade Fire (or similarly big band of critical acclaim) Red Hot Chili Peppers (bite me By the Way is a 10/10) Vampire Weekend Whoever the next garbage rapper that we will complain is so high on the lineup Them Crooked Vultures (or Prophets of Rage, TVC recently updated their FB) The Avalanches Sufjan Stevens (with (Late Night) next to his name) Air Some more new blood that will have a breakout year next year
I feel if they are going to try really hard on the lineup next year they *could* swing it but really I just want a top 10 this strong
Katy Mae It really depends what you mean by undercard - because the top 3 lines of this year blowed (ex. HLers) but the best acts I saw were all strong undercard positions: Vulfpeck, Leon Bridges, Vince Staples, Tyler, Blood Orange, etc. LCD took the cake for me, but shit at this point I think we are going to face in the future the dilemma of: Great HLers, mediocre pop top 3-4 lines, hidden treasures, and really low maintenance of the fields/portas OR mid-quality HLers, quality pre HL and LNs but a shit show undercard like 2015. I don't know if the market leaves much space for much else unless LN wants to do a money dump on two weekends
People need to stop putting Daft Punk in their guesses. Radiohead is much more possible at this point; and I don't think Chance should be HL at all but I think he's earned his top 3 lines spot. Certainly more quality than Macklemoist

By The Way was the first album I ever heard and got me into music when I was like 6. Venice Queen is still the shit. People hate on RHCP but they were my first favorite band so seeing them would be extremely nostalgic and I wouldn't be that against them.

They've played already though. I don't think Red Hot Chili Peppers are what Bonnaroo is missing in most people's eyes. They're not the kind of headliner that you would want to bring back (in my opinion, of course).
Roger Waters would be ideal for me, but I have a feeling Dave Matthews and Friends is due back, which will be really lame.

It's not the top 6 I'm worried about. They're never gonna have the best top 6 for my taste. I just want them to bring back the random shit other festivals don't get like Bjork, R Kelly, Billy Idol, ZZ Top, Alice Cooper, Kenny Rogers, Nick Cave, Weird Al etc. That's what made Bonnaroo worth doing over the numerous other very similar fests.

The Daft Punk stuff is definitely a joke lolol. Also, Chance would be 4th at highest - still completely based on his Roo involvement. He's not actually that big by any means.
Bonnaroo '15/'16/'17/'18/'19 - ACL '13/'14/'15/'17/'18 - Fun Fun Fun '14 - SXSW '13/'14/'15 - FPSF '16
2019 Shows: 4/30 - Vampire Weekend 6/28 - Father John Misty & Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit 9/6 - Cardi B w/ Teyana Taylor 9/28 - Vulfpeck w/ The Fearless Flyers

Yeah, the unique/rare bookings were severely lacking this year. Another issue with both the 2015 and 2016 lineups was that they missed so many quality acts that were no-brainers. Acts like Beck, Modest Mouse, Ryan Adams, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Decemberists, TV on the Radio, St. Vincent, Hot Chip, Foals, Grimes, Future Islands, Anderson .Paak, The New Pornographers, DIIV, Viet Cong, Alvvays, etc. I realize that they missed out on some of those due to Shaky Knees and Pilgrimage, but you would think a first-tier festival shouldn't have so much difficulty locking down those types of acts.

I don't know what a realistic top six means for Bonnaroo anymore. But if the Foo Fighters headlined, Jack White is there, and the lineup included a couple of the following, I'd come back: The National, Girl Talk, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Snoop or Dre. But again, that's probably not realistic based on the lineup the last couple of years.

I would enjoy it if they revisited the attention to world music that they once had. This was the lightest year for that by far. And man, I just looked back at the 2015 lineup, I feel like 2016 was way better. That top line was horrible.

Yup. on both accounts. I really liked my time in 2015 but the undercard was a crapshoot. I had a lot of fun at every undercard show I went to this year and a blast at LCD and Pearl Jam. So overall, except if I want to complain about set lengths was pretty much a match IMO
I liked the 2015 undercard far more than this year, shrug.
Same here. The 2015 undercard wasn't as strong as 2013 or 2014, but I thought it was much better than this year's. They definitely shit the bed on a bunch of quality acts that were touring in 2015 (e.g., Modest Mouse, Tame Impala, St. Vincent, Hot Chip, Future Islands, etc.), but the biggest issue with last year's lineup was the top 3.

Bonnaroo's severe lack of Hot Chip realllly grinds my gears.

I'm in agreement on the '15 undercard being better than this year's. I didn't have any tough decisions this year and everything I saw was fun. 2015 had plenty after the headliners I was excited for and in turn a lot I had to miss. I mean, there was Florence, Plant, MMJ, Alabama Shakes, D'Angelo, Slayer, Spoon, War On Drugs, Atomic Bomb, Tears For Fears, FlyLo, Earth Wind and Fire, Caribou, Gary Clark Jr, SBTRKT, Medeski, Schofield, Martin & Wood, Run The Jewels, Sturgill Simpson, Jamie xx, Mac DeMarco, Gibbs and MadLib, Shabazz Palaces, Courtney Barnett, Strand of Oaks, Woods, King Gizz, All Them Witches, and just a whole lot more. The electronica was wack this year for my tastes and I'd say the Bluegrass was far better in '15 as well.

2015 lineup had better hip-hop, metal, unique bookings, electronic music, late night shows, and had 100% more D'Angelo. Only thing that 2016 had that was a good get was LCD (great booking btw), but everything else was a downgrade.

Dead and Company closing this year out vs Billy Joel up there on What sweating in his suit and ending early probably puts 2016 in the win column though.
I think the sets I saw this year (Dead & Co., Vulfpeck, LCD, Kamasi) were better than what I saw last year or in 2014, but the lineups overall have gotten progressively worse.
