Would the Kinks even headline? I get that a Kinks reunion would be a huge deal, but I feel like they would be a better fit in the Beach Boys spot or the Buffalo Springsteen spot.
Buffalo Springsteen spot for sure.
I'm clearly building my resume for the 2017 #allstar team.
Roger Waters - Arcade Fire - Beck - Pretty Lights (live band)
Friday What: Roger Waters (9:30-12:00)
Saturday What: Arcade Fire (9:00-11:00) Which: Pretty Lights (11:00-1:00)
Sunday What: Beck (9:00-11:30)
Most fests that Beck has been playing have booked him in the 4th-6th name range, not top 3. I could see him as more of a Robert Plant type of Which Sunday closer, or in a 1.5-2 hr pre headlining spot on What like MMJ had in 2015.

If this was the lineup and they moved like a Fleetwood Mac or Tom Petty or someone (to continue with the Jammy type Sunday theme) and moved Beck into the Robert Plant role I'd be ok with that too.

The reason I didn't do that is because it would be repeating or downgrading him from last time he played Roo in '06, when he Pre-HL'd the What on Sunday. Just feels weird for him to be demoted. And the Sunday headliners are usually pretty good acts that nobody hates but many people are totally ok with skipping to get a jump on the drive. In that way, I think Beck fits but I do agree that it is most likely a bit out of his reach, which is a huge bummer cause he would kick ass to close the weekend!
Plus, I was just tryin to be a lil realistic and not book a bunch of number ones like most people do in here. Though, Neil Young could certainly replace him and it wouldn't be too inconceivable.

Beck just headlined Mountain Jam...people that headline Mountain Jam do not headline Bonnaroo. He was fantastic, but he's a pre-HL slot, I'd love to see something like

If Beck can't headline, then neither can MMJ. MMJ was 7th on last year's lineup. Beck would probably be no lower than 5th.

Beck is headlining Pilgrimage fest in Tennessee this year. I think wilco was the top name on last year's lineup, so I think beck would pre-HL at Roo. Beck>Springsteen would be delicious.

FWIW, I had this as a double headliner like Kendrick/Deadmaus. However, I'm completely out of it when it comes to rap/edm popularity.

What's wrong with continuing to recycle the same group of stale headliners at every fest, you guys? Beck didn't headline Governors Ball this year, or Bonnaroo 10 years ago. He's out of the club forever.

Oh there is definitely something wrong with recycling the same group of headliners, Bonnaroo just hasn't proved that they actually want to move good artists up. The fact that they've gone 10 years without booking Beck is pretty stupid

Can't believe they didn't give LCD Soundsystem a headlining slot this year. WTH.

They gave an act headlining every festival a headliner slot? Groundbreaking. Giving Beck a real headlining slot would be different when everywhere else he is pre headlining or playing fests with dueling headliners.
Edit - I would like to say I would love a 2 hour Beck headlining spot, I just don't think it is going to happen

I don't think it's an absurd notion that Beck could headline, but I think the more likely scenario would be for Bonnaroo to either go with a #3 that has never played the festival or promote an act that hasn't been around as long as Beck (e.g., Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys, etc.). Not saying it wouldn't happen, but I just don't expect an act that has been on the same level of popularity for ~20 years to suddenly get top 3 billing at a festival like Bonnaroo.

Based purely on like a popularity/name recognition basis, Beck makes a lot more sense than LCD Soundsystem as a headliner. Obviously a lot more than that goes into billing, but yeah, let's stop saying Beck isn't popular enough

I mean, I'd love for Bonnaroo to put together a strong enough lineup to justify Beck being 4th, but the last two years don't give me a lot of confidence.
The multiple fests on the farm next year (if it happens) seem to signal that they're not even as invested to make the core Roo lineup as big as past years.
That's not to say that the Roo 2017 lineup can't be more appealing to people here than past years.... buy I think it's a weird year to try and guess the "size" of some of the top billed acts.
Beck didn't headline Governor's Ball this year, what is the argument for him to headline Bonnaroo? Him and MMJ both aren't headliners
Governor's Ball sells more tickets than Bonnaroo would be one place to start
It's crazy to think too. It's a festival on an island that you have to find a hotel and transportation in New York for. Maybe they just are in the business of making Governor's Ball as big as they can and paying less attention to what they do with Bonnaroo in general these days.

If you added him to past lineups,he would have been 4th this year, probably 6th in 2015, 5th in 2014.

drake - arcade fire - the weeknd - beck feels realistic
