Biography: Unlocking The Truth are a Brooklyn based metal band who happen to have been all born in this century. They've opened for Guns N' Roses, Motorhead, Marilyn Manson, Queens Of The Stone Age, Living Colour and more. They're the youngest band to ever play the Vans Warped Tour or Coachella. They even got to play on The Colbert Report. This year, in their summer vacation between 8th and 9th grade, they'll get their turn at Bonnaroo. Malcolm Brickhouse and Jared Dawkins started the band in 2007. As their street performances began to capture an audience, they decided they needed a bassist. Knowing no one that already played the bass, they taught their friend Alec Atkins how to play from scratch. In November of 2013 they played a halftime show at a Brooklyn Nets game that caught the attention of Sony records. This lead to them signing a $1.8 million Five album deal with Sony (which apparently they are trying to get out of).
Caught them last month opening for Manson. The only critique I had of their set was the lack of stage presence. Initial day by day schedule makes me believe there will be something else Ill want to see during their set but I encourage anyone that likes heavy metal to stop by and check them out.
