Its the festival that lasts all summer long in a venue that needs no explanation. I'll keep updating when new concerts get listed, otherwise: redrocksonline.com/concerts-events/
Major Lazer will be playing on the 30th of this month as part of the ongoing annual Winter on The Rocks thing. Holy Ghost! and Damian Marley will be opening. Anyone else here going?
By the way, it'll be my first Red Rocks show! I wanted to go as soon as possible since I moved here with no money and couldn't go during the summer time.

Have you at least been to Red Rocks on a non-concert day? A lot of people don't seem to know it's a State Park so you can go explore it and everything. People ski down it in the winter too. You'll have a great time. I've seen 6 shows there total and am always on the lookout for something to make it worth flying back out to go to.
Guess there is no Dead happening this year. Bummer! So glad I went out there for the Furthur run (skipped one night to go to Riot Fest to see Iggy Pop)
If Crazy Horse did two nights there this Fall I would find a way to make it out there.

I'm not sure how feasible it is to actually ski down Red Rocks. The foothills would have had to gotten at least 2 feet of snow in one swoop for that to even be remotely possible. Otherwise its a one-of-a-kind venue and the whole park is worth exploring during the day when there isn't a concert.
Kind of surprised The Dead didn't make their reunion show at Red Rocks, but oh well! Looks like the Decemberists and Spoon are playing on Wednesday 5/27.
tronik Ill be in Denver July 27-31 for work. When they decide to fill in that gap from 7/12-7/29 Im picking a show and goin. If they dont fill that gap in, the Music of ABBA, it is! I need to see Red Rocks STAT!
^^ Chief Hosa used to be the big campsite but the authorities shut it down for camping after Red Rocks shows. Bear Creek Lake is def supposed to be the spot now, but I stay in hotels or friends houses when I go to Red Rocks.
So, here's some Red Rocks lore. At Furthur RR 2013, the first night, I was at the bottom of the big stairs after the show and shooting the shit with some tourheads. One was complainin about Chief Hosa not being an option anymore "since Dead Tour '04." I inquired about what exactly went down that messed up a viable campgrounds that had been used for who knows how many years.
So The Dead play four nights in 2004, which obv is gonna have some craziness going down at a campground full of wooks. Well apparently, multiple people, up to six, died in one night because some idiot sold a bunch of K that had been smuggled in either a bottle of antifreeze or windshield wiper fluid. I haven't seen anything about that in the newspapers upon searching, just second hand accounts.
There are these dirty lot kid trading cards / merch called "Ghetto Lot Kids" that are based off of the awesome Garbage Pail Kids of the 1980's. There is one that seems to reference this. What a terrible way to go out.
Yeah Chief Hosa is a no-go for camping after that incident, and its certainly put a damper on any camping options immediately surrounding Red Rocks. Fortunately there are plenty of state/national parkland within a 40 mile radius to set up camp. The pre-show lot scene is where the fun happens anyway! Check out all four of them and make some friends.
I'm making my way out here this summer for my first Red Rocks show! We're road tripping out to see Decemberists/Spoon/Courtney Barnett. We have tix in row 40 - looks to be close to the middle. Should be a blast!

Quite the embarrassment of riches to have this many summer shows announced by 2/1. Went to nin/Soundgarden at Red Rocks last year, hopeful to return this year
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

This depends. Are you planning on doing anything in Denver before or after the show? There are a couple of hotels (Hampton Inn, Best Western, ect.) that are close distance-wise to Red Rocks if you are just shooting in and out for the show. Otherwise I would strongly consider finding someplace closer to Denver proper so you are in the middle of the action. All of this depends on what your plans are and your budget for lodging while you're in town.
