per bloomberg, sales of yeezy sneakers were $1.7 billion in 2021, almost 7% of adidas's total revenue that year.
i'm betting they have had some kind of contingency plan in place, and IIRC adidas owns almost all of the sneaker designs. so i'm sure they'll tweak things a bit and keep releasing yeezy-esque sneakers, but without the yeezy branding i doubt there will be as much hype.
He will make more by working this as the "liberal left canceled me, send me your money."
will he though? maybe i don't understand all the revenue streams of right wing grifting, but he doesn't have any products to sell, and it's not like he has a podcast, he gives all his speech away for free to TMZ or whoever.
i mean he doesn't HAVE to generate new revenue, if somebody is managing his wealth for him he should live fine on passive income for the rest of his life. but i can't see the yeezy drop as anything other than a big loss for him.

Trump has nothing to sell and is having people send him money non stop.
Kanye can claim he's running for office of some kind and collect money. Maybe not as much or as easy as huge brand deals but idiots will gladly hand money to whoever tells them what they want.
I do wonder if he drops the Parler purchase deal now

kanye won't be able to collect political contributions at nearly the level of trump. trump has been the president and will probably run again, kanye has never been a serious candidate for anything and won't be taken seriously as a candidate for anything. i'm not saying SOMEBODY wouldn't send kanye money to run for something but not trump level donations.
again i'm not saying kanye is going to go broke or anything, just saying i don't think he's playing 4D chess by swapping his adidas revenue for an equal amount of grifting revenue. but if kanye is truly a billionaire maybe he doesn't care about the ~$200mill/year he was getting from adidas.
i'm also interested in where the Parler deal goes.

Kanye is spiraling the drain. None of this is calculated. These grifters he’s surrounding himself with are more likely to take his money than make him rich (see, eg, Candace Owens talking him into bailing out Parler)
yeah I don't think there's as much money in the right wing grift game as people think. Candace owens has a net worth of like 3 to 5 mil. even someone like Bannon who is basically at the top of the right wing grifter pyramid, is (was) somewhere between 20 and 40m. Kanye's losing like 100 times what these people make in a year daily.
This whole downfall has just been painful to watch. Some part of me just doesn't want to blame Kanye. I want to believe he's a victim of something out of his control, but he really is just a dumbass or completely off his rocker. There is no grand excuse. The guy just needs to go somewhere remote and find peace away from all of the noise
yeah its really too bad we lost out on the chance to hear him play his wretched jesus music and talk about the jews while mike lindell watches from the porch of a burning building or whatever
There has not been “silence” about anything Kanye has done for the last 6 years. He’s been hemorrhaging support support every time he logged on. All takes like this do is give grist to the people who want to say “see, the Jews really do control everything”

Larry Hoover show proved he could still deliver. Obviously wouldn’t want him in his current state

the Hoover show was quite clearly a wild-ass anomaly, given literally everything else he's done since TLOP

It also wasn’t that good. Graded on the biggest of curves.
yeah the performance itself was just okay, its more that he actually played songs people liked instead of "Book of Job pt. 2 feat. Da Baby and Jared Fogel" or whatever
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

yeah it's all awful. i understand the desire to not want to blame kanye, as mental illness is a part of the equation, as are people coming in and grifting/using him for attention or money or whatever. but that dreaded phrase "personal responsibility" has to play a part as well. if you know you are sick you have to take care of yourself, you have to take your medication, you have to engage in therapy, or whatever prescribed course of action will help alleviate your symptoms. i know this is made more complex by the fact that your illness tells you you don't need any of this, but there are tons of people who successfully live with a variety of mental illnesses everyday, and do so with far less access to resources than kanye does.
i've been lucky enough (not being sarcastic) to be friends with a host of people who take various medications. one friend in particular is the most lovely, kind, and hilarious person you'll ever meet. when he takes his meds he thrives, but every few years he convinces himself he doesn't need them, and inevitably he ends up calling me from the emergency room because he is convinced he is having a hard attack or a stroke or something. it's just an anxiety attack, every time. but he calls me and i remind him of that, then he gets back with his doctor who reminds him of that, and he gets back on his medication. come to think we are on a good five year streak, incident free. love that guy.
which brings another point to the personal responsibility: you need to maintain relationships with people who love you. i don't know who that is for kanye. but mental illness or no you can't go around being an asshole and burning bridges, like i feel like he did that with jay-z well before all his modern day antics. if you wreck all those good relationships, and you also happen to be wealthy and powerful, then when you are at your most vulnerable that vacuum will be filled with vultures who will enable you and pick you a part for everything you are worth.
i know the above is overly simplistic, and it's easy for me to sit behind my keyboard and criticize kanye, but the point being there is some percentage of blame that goes to kanye himself, it's not 100% mental illness and/or candace owens, but the amount of that percentage is unknowable.

Gina Carano went from having a prominent role in The Mandalorian and being on the cusp of starring in another Star Wars show to starring in the much anticipated film...My Son Hunter...

There's really not much money to be made in this market once you're off twitter and have no platform. I can't think of any online grifter who hasn't fallen off after being deplatformed. Andrew Tate is a perfect example.
Of course, Kanye is unique in that he's gonna have some reach no matter what he does but I'm not sure how he's gonna reach the right-wing boomer base if Tucker doesn't have him on again or he's off twitter. The right doesn't even really care what he says anyway. His Tucker interview was straight gibberish and all people saw was 'wow, a popular black guy on our side'.

I was thinking earlier today about how frustrating it is when people with huge support networks (like being married into the Dash family), don't take the help that's there. so many people out there who want help that don't have anyone to turn to, so it's always frustrating when someone who's got everything necessary to get help just doesn't.
obviously there's a level of difference between someone super famous, but I've known people who have had family and friends right there ready to help them and they just loose cannon further away and that's really where my head goes with someone like Ye.
