the music is great. but man there are some awful lines. i get it, essay prompts are harder than free form, and there's only so much you can do with christian rap, but like have other have said, there's flashes of greatness and then i keep just getting pulled out with some of the lyrics.

Yeah I honestly couldn't even really get into it. It was like background music. Idk

This is pretty terrible...can’t believe this is the same guy that made MBDTF and Yeezus. After listening to that Zane Lowe interview yesterday, this gospel phase, along with the MAGA shit, all seems like a ploy to appeal to middle America in an attempt to run for president.

Some of the production saves this thing from being completely shit but even the mixes are bad on a few songs. A few of these lyrics remind me of The Big Day.
· Kanye is sort of like Star Wars for me, where it's very hard not to enjoy it when I'm experiencing it for the first time. I hear familiar sounds and patterns I've come to enjoy, and I automatically love it.
· Thankfully Kanye is still consistent with his producing skills and nothing has changed here.
· However some of his rapping sounds a little rusty? Like he just doesn't have the muscle anymore. It's not bad throughout the entire album, but there are still some questionable moments.
· Even with the theme of this album it still manages to be very entertaining for me. Like postjack said a few pages back, it is nice to have a break from hearing how good Kanye is at fucking on every song. I feel like this album could have been really boring like how Chance's "The Big Day" was but it's not.
· This album still doesn't sound totally finished. I feel like certain songs never met there true potential. Especially the song "Use This Gospel", where the chorus sounded better on the Yandhi leak. The start of Pusha T's verse doesn't sound like it's properly mixed with the song either. Also the last song just sort of anticlimactically cuts off before it goes anywhere.
· Favorite songs: Every Hour, Follow God, Closed on Sundays, Everything We Need, Water, Hands On, Use This Gospel.
I don't think it's fully awful, but he has almost no energy on his vocals and I gotta hard disagree that the production is very good. It's very basic to me.
Water is good except for how lazy Kanye's vocals are.
Thoughts from a Kanye hater. I still listen to every album when it comes out just to stay in the loop. I liked this one more than anything since Yeezus. I think he sounds more real than he has in a long time. I believe that he believes what he's saying. Will I listen to it again? No.
