Here is my understanding of the tent areas: there are no official VIP areas, but if you go up to the pits and ask if you can go in, there is a decent chance they will let you. I had some fellow VIPs tell me they were never told no last year, but I was denied once. I've heard the same with the comedy tent, but they say no more frequently. I have't tried it at the comedy tent.
Should of asked before but could anyone please be so kind to tell me if there are any VIP viewing areas at the tents?
I know where the WHAT/WHICH VIP viewing areas but I can't find any info on the tents. What has your past experience been with VIP at the tents.
Thank you kindly.
I got into the VIP viewing areas at the tents multiple times last year, including Rap Superjam. Also got turned away a few times. It seemed like it depended on capacity of how many people were in there. It was a different space than roll like a rockstar/artist access(complete side stage). The VIP viewing areas were "unofficial", but they were there. Would have to pull out my schedule from last year to identify the tents- but I can recall that the I was on the left side of the stage for Rap Superjam and the right side for Wild Nothing.

1. So not the same area that had the makeshift "Roll like a rockstar" viewing area sign? I figure I'll ask at each tent. Worst that can happen is they say no. And maybe tickle me.
2. Seven Nation Army just came on while I was reading this, and The Dude was dancing right on beat with the song. Wonderful. Classy. Timeless.

Trying to picture the side of the tents. Was it just open with a volunteer standing there?

I'm curious about this too. In two years I haven't explored this because i had no idea. But exploring every available option for Die Antwoord is a MUST this year. I need to get closer for this show! Because "Yolandi Visser's the shit up in this bitch!"
Edit: actually...I'll probably try this early and often. There's a string of acts on Other this year I would LOVE to get close for. Polica....Break Science.....etc etc. And now even knowing rumors of this means i must try. and try....and try some more....

correct, it was a different area than RLARS. it was not true "side stage" it was in front of the stage, but off to the side. Not directly in front. The Dude abides.

I think i'd rather be stage front right than true side stage anyways. danke.

Again, chances are very slim, I wouldn't count on it. They are aware of the mistake the security made last year so I would image they'll be sure this year that VIP isn't let in.

It was nice however last year.
I feel like they don't want those areas to be too empty. it did seem like we got let in to shows that the "vip" area wasn't very full. hopefully we still can get in to some of them!

My gut says this too about them not wanting the areas to be too empty.

The Other Tent provided a "VIP area" on Thursday and Friday, and then it was only accessible by Artist and RLARS wristbands on Sat & Sun. Saw Wild Feathers, Break Science(in Turtle Roo costume), and St Paul and the Broken Bones from this area(right hand side) Very happy that they let us use this at least for a little while!

Did this work for you? I wanted to try at die antwoord but couldn't even get to the entrance? Amazing show though!
I only lucked out getting in to the stage-right pit for Break Science on Thursday. Every other attempt failed for the rest of the weekend. I really don't see why they can't let folks in to the RLARS area stage-left since its empty most of the time. Its not like it will diminish the RLARS experience much if at all if they let us smelly VIP'ers in. ;-)

Ditto, except i was in the same pit for Polica too. Also tried numerous times over the weekend...denied! Pit right was only allowing Artist and Photo passes for the rest of the weekend that I saw. Was trying to work it for Die Antwoord but was only seeing green wristbands get in, and saw a spot near the pit rail open so just moved there and gave up on it.
