So, for the ppl who have already caught a show on this tour:
-were most ppl dressed up? -of the dressed up ppl, were most in formal wear, or costume?
I’m still flip flopping between formal vs costume
Also want this question answered!!! Me and a friend might be going full red carpet for this.
I just got this msg from my buddy who went to the Detroit show last night
"Id say about 75% of the crowd were dressed up in either formal or costume which was cool. Out of those.. Definitely more formal than costume. Some of the people who dressed up in costumes missed the point i think. They treated it like a Halloween party via Batman/Pirate/Storm Trooper etc. I think if youre gonna do the costume, think Studio 54 flamboyant disco rather than Banana suit lol.. "

There was not that many people at the show. I would say that more people went the formal route, but there seemed to be a little laziness as well, people just wearing a basic shirt and tie and not much else. Those who did wear costumes went more of the classy costume route, there wasn't that many people dressed up in chicken suits or anything like that.
The crowd participation was definitely there, especially on the floor. Big dance party at times, sing-a-long at others. They had a secondary stage by the sound deck, (where the opening DJ's spun) and the show started with Regine singing "Its Never Over" from that secondary stage opposite the band on the main stage.
They have improved their show so much since I saw them at Roo in 2011. Win Butler seems to have more swagger as a frontman, but I may have just noticed it more this time because of how close I was. Their light show was awesome and definitely an improvement, with a background screen and mirrors above them that move vertically throughout the show. There was confetti that fell during Here Comes The Night Time in the encore, and the crowd was going pretty nuts when that happened.
They also had a cube that Win wore on his head that would show images of Prince while they covered Controversy, which was awesome. The also had a larger man wearing a ninja turtles shirt wear the cube on stage during normal person, and the cube showed images of Rick Santorum, who they seemed to jab at all night (Also very awesome).
Again one of the best shows I've seen since last year's Roo

In Minneapolis, I would guess about 40% of the people were dressed up. Probably a higher percentage for those on the floor and lower for those in the stands. Almost all in various types of formal wear. Not a lot of costumes.
Holy fucking shit. Just got back from the Toronto show and after party. Jesus Christ, what a night. Two hours of Arcade Fire, then a nightcap with Owen Pallett, Phi Slamma Jamma and DJ Win Butler. Win was not talking to ANYONE while DJing and SOMEHOW my girlfriend convinced him to bust some Wu-Tang. YES!
Phi Slamma Jamma and Win Butler busting out "Helter Skelter" in a tiny club may have been the best moment of my life.
Here's Phi Slamma Jamma doing "Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World":

What an incredible show! Amazing set list, loved the confetti bombing and watching everyone dance so hard was a blast.
Didn't have the best seats. We were beside the stage, so we missed out on the screen behind. But it was great to see all the action from a side perspective.
Definitely doesn't compare to their 11 Roo show, but the energy was infectious even with a few duds sitting in front of us. Made me extremely pumped to see them again at the end of August in Montreal!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
Was it a normal Owen Pallett set or did he just dj?
It was a full Owen Pallett set, which was as majestically beautiful as one could expect. Lots of crazy loops, and the drummer he had was just unbelievably amazing. Win Butler DJed the evening and then joined the band for the last half of the Phi Slamma Jamma set.
Still buzzing from this after show. At one point, the sprinklers went off in the venue and everyone was getting soaked. Made me rock that much harder! I will never forget this night. A huge highlight in my concert-going career. People in Philly -- DO NOT PASS UP THIS AFTER SHOW! Tickets are still available!

Walked out of the CLE show last night thinking Capp Dogg needs to invoke the out clause with West/John, and just throw that remaining cash and whatever else it takes to get AF back on the farm. I'd go as far as saying MUCH better than the Roo 11 show. They've grown up, tightened up, and holy crap was it spectacular.
Couple of notes.. I'd say 50% of GA dressed, played an awesome DEVO cover, someone up front passed out during Sprawl II, stopped the show to help him, and then started the song from the top. There wasn't a down moment in the entire set. My girl, who HATED them walking in, danced all night, and is absolutely in love with them today.

Ahhhh, they closed with Wake Up?!? That song gives me so many chills.
And a much more audience interactive version of Wake Up at that! My favorite Bonnaroo moment might just be Wake Up in 11. Here Comes the Night Time, Normal Person, Reflecktor, and Joan of Arc were amazing. The new material fit rather seamlessly into the set.

Just want to bring this up. In Pittsbugh Win teased some lyrics from New Order's "Temptation" at the end of "Afterlife." At the time I was a little messed up but I remember thinking, that's New Order, please play this whole song. If they would have covered the whole song I would have lost my shit, probably cried.
@stratsg90 and bonzai, I want a report from last night!
Honestly, one of the best shows I've ever been to. Incredible time right from the start. I heard they were struggling to sell tickets but the arena looked pretty close to full.

Yeah, it was an amazing night! Completely blew away my expectations. So amazing that I am now going to try to make the Mansfield show in August. Seriously a cannot miss tour!
We happened to be standing near a girl from my high school that also has done a few Bonnaroos (among other festivals) and she uploaded this pic from last night:
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
At the Ottawa show, the bobbleheads were doing a Alanis Morrisette "cover" of You Oughta Know (actual song was playing though, not a cover), then AF came back out and Win bashed the bobbleheads saying "you can't just come to a city and cover one of their artists songs". Thus, no Ottawa cover song was played.
It was kind of funny, because ppl were expecting a cover after hearing about the previous shows. At the same time, it was disappointing, because I would have loved for them to cover You Oughta Know

They did the same thing in CT with "Your Body is a Wonderland" and then Win went on a little rant about how much he hates John Mayer and shared a dream he had about him.
...it was the only disappointing part of the night

They also did that in Pittsburgh. The Bobble-heads played "Play That Funky Music White Boy" by Wild Cherry. Said it was a "local song". Truth is Wild Cherry are not from Pittsburgh but from the small mill town of Mingo Junction, Ohio just minutes south of my hometown. When they it was local All of my friends looked at each other and said "Local to us, not the rest of these people."
They later said the song was trash when they came back on the stage, and we just laughed. Cause it kinda is.

Controversy into Here Comes the Night Time was beyond amazing at the CT show. It's Never Over and Supersymmetry was great, the b-stage adds such a dramatic dynamic with Win and Regine singing to each other from across the arena. I wonder if they'll do something similar at Coachella? They'd be the band to do it.

I doubt it. Wouldn't it be kind of impossible to get from one stage to the other? In the arenas I assume they use the locker room tunnels to get from one stage to the next.

I was imagining using the sound booth as some sort of stage, but I doubt that would happen. IIRC the divide between the GA and VIP for the main stage leads to the sound booth. I'm curious to see their stage set-up for the upcoming tour dates. The b-stage seemed to fit with Dan Deacon and Kid Koala, but it would be a bit unfair to Tune-Yards and whoever else ends up supporting them. Plus all of their outdoor dates in Europe
It'd be a shame to get rid of it, the best parts were using it!
