In Nov I bought a ticket to UR1 festival in Miami About a week later they declared it was "postponed" due to "inclement weather conditions" In reality I suspect ticket sales were terrible and they realized they were about to lose a ton of money. This was 2 weeks before the festival, and there was no way to predict the weather. It was a BS way to get out of paying the talent for the cancellation. (It actually was a beautiful weekend) They did a HUGE marketing blitz in miami, I would imagine they spent all the money they made from their meager ticket sales on advertising.
In early Dec they said they would "soon" announce new dates, and we would be given the option to either use our tickets for the new dates, or get a refund.
It's been nearly 3 months now since the festival was supposed to happen. No new dates. No refund. I've tried contacting Wantickets.com for a refund and they said to contact UR1 When I contact UR1 I get an automated email with the same information that they've been regurgitating since Dec. Any suggestions on how to handle this?

You do realize I have an Army at my disposal right?
In all seriousness, call your credit card company and explain EVERYTHING to them. The more details the better. I hope that you find some kind of resoultion in this matter.

He will find resolution. Disputing a charge is easy. Plainly put, you purchased something and didn't receive the product. Pretty open and shut. Your CC company should credit you the money right away while they are working on it, even.
Wait, "inclement weather conditions" exist... in Florida... in December?
You silly Southerners.
At least your attorneys general are easy on the eyes.
Like laggy said in the OP, that is their official reason but basically everyone believes that they f*cked up financially and crying "inclement weather" was the only way they could avoid paying out a bunch of money to artists. They had multiple issues even before the cancellation (i.e. giving a date and time for the lineup release and then releasing nothing, not even a reason for not posting it) that made some people kind of doubt that they had it together.

It looks like crossfade were the promoters, try them. My bank only gives me 90 days to dispute charges, so I am not sure that will work for you.
Also I noticed your local paper is a sponsor, you might see if you can get a reporter to write a shaming piece on them as well to get their butts in gear.

I told UR1 and Wantickets I'd dispute the charge if they did not refund. I gave them a few days with no response
I called chase yesterday and they are going to credit me back the money. I couldn't believe how easy it was. They have great customer service. Thanks so much for the advice guys. I thought of doing this but wasn't sure it could work, and definitely had no idea how easy it would be
It's good that you did this, because not only do you get your money back, but you also force these swindling frackers to endure the hassle of the credit card investigation. It sends a very clear message.

In my experience it's really not a hassle unless they want to fight the dispute. They can simply do nothing and accept it and the money is just withdrawn from their account.
If you want to hassle them, file a claim with the Attorney General's office. They like high profile things like this. So might one of the tv stations in whatever market the festival was supposesd to be in. They like doing those consumer fraud expose pieces.
