I'm too down to have a nice buzz and listen to Zeppelin tunes if there isn't a huge conflict involved. I approve and I'm glad you're defending them ITM

Oh please....everyone's going nuts about Jim James superjam and what songs he is going to cover. Good cover bands can be fun at festivals. Unchained was a mistake and should not have ever been given that spot. This band is fantastic and will be a great show.
Its just my opinion! I'm glad you like them. They seem ljke they might be cool. I listened to a few songs on youtube. I didn't hear any w vocals. I hope it helps alleviate potential conflicts for me.

I mean... at first there was a little bit of a crowd. People thinking that it may have been a joke or a cover up for a secret show that people actually wanted to see. When they found out that what they were getting really was a Van Halen cover band, they started to leave, save about 100 people.
Yup. A group of us got there EARLY for a decent spot. We were laughing at the awkward sound check thinking it was a masterful slice of tongue in cheek humor. Then they started playing. Then they didn't stop. We decided to just go to bed.
At first I thought Bustle In Your Hedgerow was more proof that AC has a seething hatred for the Inforoo community where his soul use to be, but itrainmonkeys has put the record straight. These guys whip ass! I'm planning on catching this for sure, it's gonna be epic.

That's fine. Your original post was about what Bonnaroo needs or doesn't need.....it wasn't framed like this where you point out it's not for you and you'll likely catch another show. I didn't take your post as disrespectful or anything....I just can't believe that I saw so many people comparing this group to unchained.
Unchained is those guys main gigs. They have no real recognition or accomplishments in the music industry. Bustle in your Hedgerow is a side project from four very talented musicians who have a ton of critical acclaim and different levels of success in the music industry. This is something they do for fun and it's leaps and bounds better than Unchained. This show will be great. I usually don't prefer full instrumental shows but these guys have won me over when I've seen them.
I get that Bustle in your Hedgerow is on a different level than Unchained, but I still prefer bands that play original music.
Valid point. No problem with that. I also prefer bands that play original music but I know 90% of the bands at Roo will be doing just that so I like having two or three cover bands/shows if I want to see it. I just was shocked to see people making jokes about this like they are a group of nobodies who will play some crappy Zeppelin tunes. This is more like Deervana than it is like Unchained. It's a group of talented musicians putting on a great show playing songs that have influenced them.

Good point. I'm not a fan of cover bands who make their career out of playing other peoples music, but this is obviously not the case. Benevento/Russo duo have history at bonnaroo and are great musicians on their own. Plus, wasnt the claypool/gogol bordello/kirk hammett superjam in 2008 a tom waits tribute show? Don't remember people saying "the last thing bonnaroo needs is another cover band". The unchained disaster has got people jaded

Exactly. No one complained about Darkstar Orchestra playing Bonnaroo. No one complained about Deervana. No one complained about Spectrum Road. All cover bands but all made up of talented musicians with other projects that just happen to get together to jam some covers once in a while. The well deserved knock on Unchained is that they were playing bowling alleys and small bars before Bonnaroo and their late night set kicked bands like SBTRKT and Flogging Molly, who a lot of people wanted to see as a LN set, to daytime. Bustle played Brooklyn Bowl in January. Not exactly the Starlight Lanes.
I talked with Taylor of Dawes after their show in Kzoo tonight. Dawes is NOT playing Roo this year even tho they are in Nashville earlier that week. Bummer. Great show tonight tho--they sound great live!

Just Youtube'd Bustle in Your Hedgehog and itrain is right. For a sh*tty cover band that virtually no one cares about they do rock hard. Unchained blazed a history making trail for fellow cover artists to waste our late night spots. In that way I consider them to be the Jackie Robinson of our times. I'm glad Hedgehog is piggybacking on Unchained's success. Here's one of the more hard rocking instrumental Hedgehog cuts:
