Is the entrance gate by VIP/staff more lenient on pat-downs/bag checks than the main entrances? I know security isn't very strict at any entrance, I only ask because I worked at CounterPoint and staff had their own entrance with security workers who didn't even attempt to search bags or people, which made bringing in food and drinks much easier and less stressful.
It's random. I've had years where I've sailed through VIP with a quick cursory check, and then I've had years like last year where they pretty much went through my entire car, top to bottom. And by the way, I'm 40, with dorky glasses and short hair. I couldn't look any more clean cut.
Let me ask another question along this line. Once you are on the grounds with a GA wristband, how hard is it to get into the VIP camping area to visit someone? I ask because I and most of my family will be in VIP/RV, but one of my daughters will be camping with her friends in GA, and of course we would like to see her at a campsite a little. Yeah, we will see her outside the campgrounds, but we are gonna have a very cool set up this year and would like to have her visit us in the VIP area. Not trying to cheat anyone out of money, just want a few minutes of family howdy-hey time.

As everyone else has pointed out, you're not going to be able to get her into VIP, no matter how much you try to talk the gate volunteers into it. You are going to have to hike it out to her GA spot, which could be a loooong way away, or plan to meet up with her in Centeroo. We've had friends go GA, and last year they were a haul away. Because of that, we visited them just one time at their campsite. The rest of the time we arranged Centeroo meet ups.
