And also one where I immediately understood why many people hated the ending. Haha.
Yeah, I don't know how I feel. Lol. I enjoyed the movie in a lot of ways but you REALLY gotta suspend disbelief on this one. Possible the worst/dumbest father of this decade in horror?

Yes. The basic setup of the movie being "I'm gonna leave my kids alone in a remote cabin with my patient/girlfriend with a history of mental issues who my kids just met and have a huge problem with because they blame her for their mother's death." is beyond five star parenting.

Yeah, I found it hard to feel bad for them. Although the scene where she burns her doll was pretty bad. lol
I'll give the movie credit that it so committed that it makes you kinda forget just how insane some of the father's decisions are... until it's over and you get a chance to think back on it. I even considered early on that maybe he's right not to leave her or do what the kids want because of what happened. You don't really know why him and his wife split. Unless I missed it and they were having an affair so that's 100% the cause of the separation. If that's the cause than WTF dude.
Still, the kids needed way more time and that should have been his priority until like a year into the grieving process.. or something. Just a total shit job there. Keep it in your pants, buddy.

The movie doesn't play up the stereotypes as much as the poster may suggest. The acting isn't great at times, and the killer reveal isn't as surprising as they think it is. Overall, a nice little slasher movie though.
Not sure I'd recommend it to anyone but it's decent little indie with a very goofy premise.. Doesn't waste much time with exposition which tends to be really clunky in these types of movies. If someone was just looking for a competent jump-scare fest this does a fair job at it. Only 50 something minutes long. haha. I'd say Unfriended is still the best "desktop horror" because of how well it uses the interface in the narrative.
Just finishing up this piece of shit. It sucks but has some really solid secondary characters. If they could have tied everything together with any skill this could have been an okay movie. But the last 20 minutes of this are just total shit.
This is pretty good so far but it's likely a bad sign that Danny is the least interesting part so far in.
Weirdly, I remember thinking the book came across as super cheesy, and the movie followed the book pretty closely, but I actually enjoyed it as a movie. Maybe it was just because my expectations were really low.

I never read it. I was kinda interested but figured it wouldn't be all that great. There is definitely some cheese in this movie. Like all the "steam" and just the overload of callbacks in the last act. But I liked the relationships between the leads and ended up appreciating Danny's story the more I thought about it. Far from perfect but better than I thought it would be. Mostly cause it did it's on thing for most of the running time... which is understandable why some folks hate it.

LMAO
My God the lead kid in this is such a shithead.
Oh yeah, all of the “steam” stuff is really what seemed cheesiest about the book, and I definitely agree it’s still cheesy in the movie. I for sure wouldn’t recommend it for someone looking for a great movie, but it definitely works as a fun watch.
