After consultation with Qsaroo and input for the contest. I was asked to come up with some ideas dealing with "Dehydration" for questions. Instead I had another epiphany. The following was ramblingest ramble ever that just popped into my head.
Off the top of my head roughly talking about drinking and hydration the first thing that comes to mind for me is "Hatian Zombie Powder" I have read some books by this guy Wade Davis. Hear me out on this one. Not only should hydration be remembered as being key but electrolytes as well. Why does a wook stagger about because they are fucked up from not enough NaCl due to profuse sweating etc. Due to an abscence of enough sodium chloride to run the sodium potassium pumps inside the body to facilitate salt ion transfer. As you know this freezes up the muscles and incapacitates the individual. And depending upon how much salt they had going into Bonnaroo and how much they have sweated out and how much they are taking in? As we can see this quickly run into a deficit especially during those daytime shows. Most people are used to hitting up the a/c and or not being outside all of the time. Some of the people at Bonnaroo fly in from much colder climates like some girls I met from Argentina one year. Patagonia is a lot cooler! Hell they are digging mummified dinosaur skin remains etc. out in some places. Anyway back on point. Some of these utopiananarchistveagancommunehippies are used to being in a controlled environment and like in the words of Ted Turner view stuff like salt and sugar as "chemicals" and avoid them go down like a baby seal hit with a lead filled snow shoe in a Frank Zappa song. Bonnaroo however is the real world where people have salt cravings etc. That is why people are scarfing down those cheese fries etc. and if it were up to me I would scientifically sit there and watch them sprinkle on salt and run some sort of experiment in my head of consumption etc. They know on some deep level what needs to be done. They just cannot express it in words. but they eyeball that shaker and start sprinkling. Raw animal instinct saving yourself there from a trip to the IV tent. Some people are chugging water all day thinking I am staying hydrated. you can have to much water in your body as well. I know we should how shall we say not go there as it is better to have someone drinking more there. But the salt helps people excrete the water from the body Homeostasis or getting people in balance is key. So how do I cheat on this? I get those hydration tablets that Camelbak makes. They desolve like Alka-Seltzer in your water and fizz with no need for mixing. They are clever to sneak in in case Centeroo Security makes you dump your Camelbak. You can add them inside and fill up from a water station. Plus they are flavored to boot! I know the water is filtered etc. Yet last year I clearly tasted sulpher on the last day! Maybe the variables on that have to do with depth of water table versus draw down time vs. recharging of the "aquifer" after all some years in the area of Bonnaroo there have been major droughts. And who has ever looked into the environmental impact of that? Or even thought this far into it? My hypothesis was that the water table was getting very low by Sunday. This increased the dissolved particulates and why I clearly noticed the sulpher. Anyway in closing why does a Wook stagger about? because there muscles are freezing up on them. The Voodoo priests in Hiati have known this for years Wade Davis has wrote some interesting books on the subject. His most famous being the one Clive Barker tweaked and made into the movie "The Serpent and The Rainbow". The book is nothing like the movie trust me on that. It is more boring. Without Sodium Potassium Pumps running you are basically dead weight. It interferes with electrical signals etc. comming from the brain and like a car with a blown cylinder etc. muscles such as respiratory ones etc. are not helping you breathe etc. like normal. Start building up carbon dioxide etc. and that also start making you overheat. You need good fresh air being pumped in and out of the body. Air is a poor conductor of heat so as fresh air gets sucked in it is cooling the body on the inside . So this is what crossed my mind after reading about hydration etc. this morning. Odd thoughts linking Ethnobotany to hydration but not so far apart. I guess Sproats Wook Attack thread brought me to this mindset. I have known about the salt thing for a long time. I usually kep some Gator Aid etc. at camp for in the morning and try and drink a couple of bottles right off the bat upon awakening. And like I said I put those pills in my Camelbak throughout the day. And slide in a couple of frozen water bottles against the bladder for Centeroo. Helps cool things down a bit. And that is what is up with me and my survival shortcuts. I had read this last night and was driving home from work this morning thinking should I tell people how to cut grass and make a solar still to obtain water? No I just sat down typing and here it was! Water is the key but salt picks the lock! And nobody on this board has ever really gotten into depth on that subject. My life experience and study of Ethnobotany has truly and profoundly gotten into a whole new aspect of survival. Without salt we would die. I am going to copy this and randomly post it in a couple of days as some such article or something that needs to be delved into and discussed. If you are incorporating it onto a contest I will hold out until it is over. I feel this is one of my most infamously rambling subjects ever. Zombies and Wooks I have made the connection!

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Madness I tell you thanks for the <3 freaks! My mind has many twisted convoluted turns though I would share this one with you. Just stay hydrated but make sure other things are in order as well. keep your body in balance! You can actually drink to much water and swell the brain etc. and die from it. I am just glad the subject of hydration triggered this. There are other things you need as well. I posted this as a seperate thread to once again remphasize for those of us who were to lazy or did not look through the Qsaroo thread. it never hurts to remphasize the subject and to avoid tragedy. The festival should be about fun and not us holding memorials for our friends from there. Our time on the farm is short and hectic but should always be fun let's leave the mortality thing for "elsewhere". If you have to slow down your weekend because you are feeling sick etc. or out of it or something please do go seek help. Talk to a medic etc. there are plenty of them. And there are always people around who are willing to help. If you do not feel right sit down and ask the first person you see for help. Do not keep trying to go on your body has real limits to it. It is not a computer you can overclock.

"I was asked to come up with some ideas . . . Instead I had another epiphany" I am not sure if I should go any further with this one but, I dare to ask, what was the original epiphany?

Lono has actually stumbled upon and interesting theory and I love it. In grad school I wrote a paper on zombies in society, and their correlation with fears of death and I pulled a lot from the beliefs in Haiti and you know what their "cure" for zombies was? Salt. If someone in the village died they would put salt in their mouths and around the body to keep the priest from using their body. An extreme state of dehydration/lack of salt be a good explanation for the zombies that roamed Haiti/Bonnaroo. Right on, Lono.
