we do something like that in the bot-spam channel on the discord. I have a Pixel which basically Shazams every song that plays around me, then I set up a third party app to automatically scrobble those songs

That last part is a good point. I can't remember exactly what my apartment charges, but it's like $25-$35 each month to use a credit card vs ACH. With that, it's highly unlikely any credit card bonus is going to offset that.

My grandfather was apparently a pretty good businessman. He was the vice president of a major blue jean manufacturer for a lot of years. He bought a time share once.
He realized by the time he got home that he’d done something dumb, so he went through the contract thoroughly and managed to get out of it before he actually lost any money on it.

wife has been going through old pictures of her dad and telling me stories. frankie was a guitar player, since i knew him he played in two bands: High Country (country cover band) and Rock Bottom (rock cover band). they had standing gigs at the boats in Biloxi. but i'm just learning that when frankie was 18-19 years old he was in a band called National Road. And they went on tour!
frankie on the bottom left there. look at that killer! he was a cool guy. anyway the tour wrapped up in atlanta and they ran out of money, they had to crash at some rando's apartment and get real jobs to make enough gas money for the 5 hour drive home.
it's wild to think of parents being young and doing crazy stupid shit.

One of the first things I did when I split up with my ex, was get out of that stupid timeshare she got in the White Mountains. I gave her my half for a few hundred bucks, but well worth it.

more old stuff, we moved recently and so are going through a bunch of boxes that were in our attic. i found this box of stuff from high school (1996-2000). apparently at some point i printed out a bunch of pictures of Jack Kerouac and would just carry them around. As a former 10 year employee of said company, I’m simultaneously surprised and not surprised.
All those larger WF sites require a badge for access with security guards. They absolutely should have known a badge didn’t swipe out at the end of the day.
However, I’ve been to a dozen or more of WF’s largest sites and many of them have hundreds / thousands of cubicles in a single location or floor. Post-pandemic, even today those sites are generally filled to a fraction of their capacity. I was always the only person on my team at my locations so I was always alone in the office. No one at the site typically even knew I was there.
On a side note, I had a WF colleague that didn’t show up one day to a meeting (remotely) the week of Thanksgiving. We came back from the holiday weekend and found out she had gotten murdered by her husband.
I’ve seen enough over the years.I have zero desire working at a mega corp any more. Working at a company of 25 people was a game changer.
