So? Every artist we could possibly want has pretty much played a festival before. Most of us just think Roo is behind of the Coachellas, Primavera Sounds, ATPs of the world.

Keep in mind all those bands fit a certain niche. Odd Future, FlyLo, and Cut Copy are all similar indie groups that peaking in buzz/popularity. Those are the bands Coach is best at booking. AnCo has played both festivals before, and people have been calling for them to return since their poorly-received 2009 set. We also have threads for Neil Young, Sonic Youth, Prince, Arctic Monkeys, Seasick Steve, The Rolling Stones, Bjork, Mastodon, Queens of the Stone Age, & Radiohead all on the first page. Obviously, when we start our wish-lists, we're gonna have bands that played other major festivals.

for the record I don't really care who gets booked at Roo 2012.....I'm sure most of the acts will be to my liking....whether I know them ahead of time or not.
Love Roo, wish they would take more chances on booking. That's it Jessenheimer.
So you love Bonnaroo you just wish it was something else?
We have to love Bonnaroo unconditionally? They do go very safe with their bookings sometimes, I don't think asking them to expand a bit is wanting it to be "something else". You can always hope that someone/something you love will constantly strive to improve and better themselves, I wouldn't want to date someone that stayed the same our entire time together, same with Bonnaroo.

You are a true master of taking something someone says and turning it into a malicious sounding statement that attacks your precious and apparently perfect Bonnaroo. We all love Bonnaroo, that's why we are here. But it's clearly always moving in a new direction, an apparently you don't think any of us are allowed to have opinions on what that direction should be.
There's nearly 30 bands that played Bonnaroo in 2010 or 2011 that were also at chella this year. Similar bookings/wants are unavoidable.
Ive always thought GV must probe my mind while sleeping to give me damn near every new band I want. They are really good at their job, that's all...[/quote
So true. They really get out there and get what Indie kids want. Makes me wish I lived closer. Not to hate on Bonnaroo, because I'd travel 2k miles for roo.
I just hang around here for the scintillating intellectual discourse.
I hang around here because I enjoy murdering prostitutes in Whitechapel and I heard that this board is a good place to find 24 hour criminal defense in London.

Yeah, not like anyone here is saying Coach is better, just that there are festival aspects that Coach does very well that Bonnaroo could emulate. If I was a Coach fan, there'd be plenty of areas I would encourage them to improve on, some of which they could look to Bonnaroo to for guidance.
