Don’t think Kacey/FJM/Nickel Creek is an odd combo at all for this particular album. Arguably Kacey/MUNA/King Princess on the last tour was weirder!
They're all good lineups, but the musical distance between artists is in a sweet spot where there's a good chance that most attendees will enjoy everything to some degree, but still see three artists that all sound very different from each other.
Many years ago, before I was going to shows, one of the Fillmore ballrooms did a Miles Davis/Neil Young and Crazy Horse double bill. Fillmore East and West, Boston Tea Party, and the other large clubs of the late 60's and early 70's specialized in putting really odd double and triple bills together. Like this Tea Party three-night stand at the end of 1970:

I also find it hard to believe that anyone would think Weezer, Flaming Lips, and Dinosaur Jr. is an odd combination.
They were all very good tonight. Took like 12 years off from seeing Flaming Lips and it was like seeing them for the first time again. Weezer really stepped it up. It was the best Weezer show I’ve seen.
Alright, we've gotta talk about Conor Oberst. Only two shows into the tour and he's already sounding like this:
I know he's always had his drunken nights and has a handler on tour, but if it's already this bad, I'm legitimately afraid this man is going to hurt himself. Definitely makes me feel better about not buying a pricey ticket for the intimate show here next month (I have a ticket for January, though), but it really hurts to see someone you admire struggle like this. The term "tortured genius" comes to mind. I've seen both great and bad Bright Eyes shows, and the nights when Conor's locked in, he crushes that stage. But performances like this one aren't amusing, they're just saddening.

They were who I was most excited to see at Roo 2020 (with Oysterhead a not-that-close second). Vampire Weekend is one of the only two "new" bands I've ever been able to sell my mom on (Lemon Twigs is the other)... we'll be at the Indy date on Saturday. Have a good time! My third time overall but this tour has been another level

A lot of reddit chatter that they called out a band called CMI's vocalist for making statements about killing muslims (he was deployed in Afghanistan), and then FSU people jumped them after the show. FSU advertises themselves as anti-fascist but also has a history of jumping people that disagree with them on other topics. I'm sure there is more to the story but that's what I've gathered so far

Yeah I don't know if it's a recent shift in mentality or showing true colors or what. Like I said, I'm sure there is more to the story as reddit comments were getting deleted/threads locked, messy either way

It is unreasonable to expect me to commit to a Weird Al show (or any other show for that matter) an entire year in advance.
Ravinia pretty much takes him out of the equation unless theyre going to wait til July to announce the lineup again and piss everyone off. Also on his tour dates page it does say Sept 21 is TBA so that might be the case.
