i’ve seen 4 primus shows at the orpheum and never anyone else. at this point i will refuse to go for anyone but them
The older I get (and I'm pretty old), the more that factors other than the artist influence whether I go to a show.
The venue has so much to do with it. Some venues have a great vibe and make any show better and some have a bad vibe and do the reverse. Combine a cool room that has a nice vibe with a location that's convenient to me, and one without draconian TSA-style security procedures and rules, and that makes the show very appealing to me. (Hi, Crystal Ballroom!! Hello, Rockwell Theater!!)

I want to rant about shows being booked at Royale, but honestly there's two other venues on Tremont St that are worse.
I went to a show at the Royale tonight and the venue was fine, although it could have used more seating in back for people who want to rest for a while.
My only complaint is that when I asked for a cup of ice water, the bartender pointed to a sign offering bottled water for $7 each. I passed and waited for a bottle of one of those funky seasonal Mountain Dew flavors at 7/11 after the show.
Give me an old ballroom or theater over one of those poured concrete monstrosities that LiveNation and AEG like to open.

With LP blacking out that date on 10/26 (between Durham and Asheville), and Pretty Lights having that weekend blocked off, there has to be something about to be announced for either Charlotte or Winston-Salem, right? Someone suggested perhaps Caverns with some below ground entertainment like they did last year?
