Thats what we thought for verified fan for 6 months til it went poof. I think the only way they can police this is if the codes sent are legit unique along with a link. No generic bs. Cause if its done in the same way as normal Spotify codes get sent out then its right when an onsale starys. Which means time zones and a generic code will get out one way or another.

I want to rant about shows being booked at Royale, but honestly there's two other venues on Tremont St that are worse.
What is wrong with the Royale?
the security is transphobic as hell. harassed my transmasc partner and yelled at them to leave the mens room and use the womens room. we do have a formal complaint going through the city of boston but god knows if anything will come of it
It does make me wonder if TM is just letting this all be a free for all while the lawsuit stuff gets going so they can just show what happens when its a free for all and they can just shrug their shoulders while making their profits.

Well we had in person for 2018. Maggie Rogers did this last month for her fall tour. It all comes down to how invested the artist is to making sure people get tickets. Foo Fighters a few years ago had a show in La and they did the in person on sale and called it Beat The Bots.

For the out of towners: The Wilbur and the Orpheum are both run down dumps with cramped seating. Royale is in the far opposite direction of problematic.
Royale wants to be a high end night club, but at the same time is used by Bowery Boston because they don't have a ~1500 person venue of their own in town. Problem is, their staff and drink prices behave like it's still a high end night club despite whatever might be playing that night.
I've only been there once in the last 10 years: when Mag Bay played there two years ago.
I was 12,000 and change to start, which meant when I got in at 12:27 I got to theoretically stab at platinum tickets for $831 (plus $166 in fees). Fun times.

In the pre-internet era, ticket brokers would pay students, homeless people, whomever to wait in line and buy tickets with cash. When immediately behind them in line at Ticketron/Ticketmaster outlets (or venue box offices), you'd see them buy the maximum number of tickets allowed to multiple shows by various artists.
(If you're wondering why these people didn't make off with the cash provided by the ticket broker, the brokers always had a couple of people milling about to pickup the tickets nearby and make sure that nothing went sideways.)

The Orpheum needed a major renovation 20 years ago and it still hasn't happened yet, to the best of my knowledge. I haven't been there since 2016, and the place was looking as bad as ever. They actually had an orchestra seat that was completely loose (i.e., not bolted to the floor) and a couple of other individual orchestra seats that had been replaced by folding chairs at that spot in the row.
I do believe that they painted the theater at some point, but that's all that they did.
Ever since the House of Blues opened years ago and LiveNation (as well as AEG) began making frequent use of the much nicer Wang Theater, there have thankfully been far fewer shows at the Orpheum. While I've got a ton of great memories from shows there (like the time that Jeff Tweedy called me out for wearing a flannel shirt and suspenders), they need to either completely renovate in every conceivable way or stop presenting shows there altogether.
The Wilbur isn't great, but it's not nearly as bad as the Orpheum. (I'll give these old venues their due in one important way. The newer large club/ballroom/mega-ballroom venues do feel kind of soulless, as if they were just a big hollow space with a stage at one end.
