Has anyone seen Portugal. the Man on this tour? I haven't even listened to the new album yet if it's out. They are always fun here and usually blasted, but they get a pass because they are here.
I don't think the new album is out. I'm kinda hesitant to see them this time. The first 3 times I saw them it was amazing, 20-25 songs pulled from all of their albums. But the last 3 times they played 12 songs each time, 90% from Evil Friends. Not that they owe me anything but I'd like a diverse setlist considering their catalogue is so deep and good.
For 2017, it's been about 32.9% Evil Friends. I believe it was bacon I talked to where he spoke about how they have a tendency to have more songs from their most recent album played just like the album when it comes out and they progress through the album cycle to playing less from the newest album and playing extended/alternate versions of songs.

I get that new album = setlist will be heavy on new songs, and Evil Friends was a fine album. I went back and looked at setlist.fm of the shows I went to and like I said, the last few times were 12 song setlists (in one case 9 songs) with 8 songs being Evil Friends. The "In the Mountain in the cloud" show I saw was 21 songs with 7 of them being from that album.
I hate to be that guy and I also hate to say I told you so. Signing with a major ruined them. They were one of my favorite bands, putting out albums every year, playing great shows, where they played stuff from every album. Then they get some success and that album is all they want to play and they've been playing it for 4 years now. Plus that album isn't even that good. They got what they wanted out of it though, they are a lot more popular.
i think ncbst3 was trying to sell a pair to the pittsburgh show, if i remember correctly. not sure if they're still available.
Ohh good looking out ! thank you for that : )
Let me know if they're still available!
I don't know if you already found out, but she sold those tickets. I think something on Stubhub should work out for ya though, maybe some will come down. All the seats were the same price in the on-sale so even the upper level was still at least $90 a ticket, just to let you know.

Going Louisville to Knoxville to Cincinnati is such weird routing but I'm not complaining.
I worked The Decemberists w/Julien Baker show the other night. I'm working Explosions in the Sky on Sunday, Patton Oswalt on Wednesday, Judd Apatow on Friday. Coming up in the following months: NAO, Sinkane, Tycho, Ty Segall, Diet Cig, Sigur Ros. Hot damn!

Show was still pretty killer. I'm really glad to have seen them again. The opening act hdbeendope was okay, but a little corny. He's a good rapper and when he went hard, fine. But too much "f that side, f that side" crapola.

They show was pretty amazing. They were so good and the jam out covers were great. I still don't understand why they played Feel It Still twice. Very confusing and the only downside to the whole show.
Speaking on hdbeedope, before he even came out and they did that weird ass "dj" set, really made me second guess the show for a minute. My girl's husband Ashely said he was confused by what was going on until the dj announce he was from France and then said it all made sense.

Will say that I've seen them in 2014 at a fest and 2016 with Cage and the set they played the when I saw them two weeks ago was way better than either of those other shows.
96.5 the buzz announced the Gorillaz playing Sprint Center KCMO 9/22. Full tour dates coming this week maybe?
Atlanta's local alternative station tweeted that there was a big show announcement coming on Monday morning. Hopefully they're referring to a Gorillaz show as well, this just gives me more hope.
EDIT: Yeah I've gotta imagine they're announcing some kind of tour Monday, just saw that Livenation LA posted a picture on instagram of them with the caption "4.17.17"

The tickets for NAO, Sinkane and Sigur Ros are all surprises for the lady, Sigur Ros specifically being 4 days after her birthday. I've always been historically poor at getting gifts, but I think I overwhelmingly outdid myself this year. It's nosebleed as all hell, but it's Sigur Ros in a large theatre, for the first time (for her), as a surprise. I feel good about this.

For sure! It's a Monday night but that kind of show takes precedence. I'm debating whether to get lawn tickets or seats. I found the audio quality pretty trash in the pit. Somewhere mid level in the seating area is optimal. We should coordinate buying together if seating is the route we decide to take.

I usually buy pit tickets and then wonder back and forth between the lawn and pit for most shows. It looks like the floor will be over $100 when it's all said and done with fees, so I have to think about it. If I knew they will be at ACL or another fest I'm going to, I'd just buy lawn.

I think I'll try going to the Philly show. I can make a day trip out of it even though it's Thursday.

Excited, but really wish it wasn't at Roy Wilkins.

I'm flying into DC the day of Gorillaz MPP show. Trying to see if I can find a ride back home afterwards. Fingers crossed this works. It would just be silly to skip this.

I'm keeping the ATL show in mind. Not really wanting to do a 3-hour drive in the middle of the week, by myself (doubt I can rally anybody for a Wednesday).
Really going to depend on whats shows are scheduled for the Asheville area during the time.
