Not sure how someone can say Coles album went the direction drake did... Cole's album sounds like a better put together Friday Night Lights. It's a GREAT album. I'd love to see him back at Roo. Saw him in Detroit last week and he put on a GREAT show as always.
I'd LOVE to see Kendrick Lamar at Roo. Section 80 might be the best hip hop album of the year.
Slaughterhouse or the Cool Kids would both be nice to see, I wouldn't mind a return from Gambino either.
As much as I enjoy Odd Future, they aren't that great live. Seeing them again on Sunday so maybe they've gotten better but when I Saw them at Pitchfork they missed SOOO many lyrics.
I flip flop on Wale like Kerry on Iraq, but damned if his new album didn't push me back into his camp again. It's fire. If this is what he's going to be bringing (and he's not going to let his A&Rs plot his albums and singles anymore), then I'm back on board.
While its completely opposite of how I felt when it first happened, signing with Ross is probably the best thing that could've happened to him. He gets out of the Interscope machine, gets intense production and can go in his own direction without having to cater to the A&Rs, execs, etc.

I always find Ricky Ross to be an interesting rap character. He had some pretty good mixtapes in the early-to-mid 00s then came out with some great mixtapes/freestyles/songs in the summers of '07 and '08. But his studio efforts were always trash and I never really got why the lyricism literally dissipated as soon as he touched an Interscope record. I guess he was saving his best beats & music for himself, which makes sense.
He seems like he can produce the hell out of an album, and his cameos on other artists' songs are usually a step up from his own album work. Those couple mixtapes (my favorite being Way Mo' Trilla Vol. 1) always make it back into my circulation, it would be nice if he had a studio album worth listening the entire way through, though.
Plus, he gave America one of its greatest internet memes ever:
I know it probably won't happen, but it'd be great to see Childish Gambino back this year. Listening to his new album, and it's awesome. I've listened to it 3-4 times over the past 24 hours, it's just dope.
I also wouldn't mind seeing Kendrick Lamar and ASAP Rocky there...but they're touring with Drake right now, so I don't even want to tempt fate that Wheelchair Jimmy is going to show up and drip lotion all over the stage.
Signed, Childish Gambino is in my top 5 favorite MC's right now. His set last year was on point, even though you could tell he was a bit nervous. And as Approo mentioned earlier, Kendrick Lamar is really good, I can't stop playing 'Rigamortus' in my ipod. I would love to see either of them, although I think 'Summer Camp' really needs to take off if we are hoping to see Donald back.

Haven't given it a full listen yet but I've read some reviews that say you may need UrbanDictionary open in your web browser just to keep up with all the references he throws out.
The one song I listened to yesterday had some good stuff and witty pop culture references. I'm glad to see his album getting positive remarks.
Alright, makes sense to me. Gambino has been one of my favorite artists for forever but I feel like his new album is one of the less sincere things he's done. I like Drake a considerable amount less, but I think Take Care is a more solid outing.
I agree about 'Outside' and there's a few other songs on Camp that are really genuine (L.E.S and That Power) or catchy (Sunrise and Fire Fly), but overall the album falls flat. Gambino spent months in interviews talking about how this was going to be his most cohesive piece of music so far, and how he was gonna quit talking about pussy and his dick for more important subject matters. That got me super psyched for it, and 'Outside' was absolutely the perfect way to start it. Had it continued in that vein it probably would be album of the year for me. Instead its more of the rehashed one liners he's been on since 2008, and a jumble of throwaway choruses that mean jackshit.
On the flip side, Drake's new one seems way more genuine than any of his typical cornball nonsense. There are a handful of songs (Over My Dead Body, Look What You've Done, The Real Her) that are 100% more sincere than Best I Ever Had or whatever else. I dunno if you've listened to those, but you should check out them sometime (at least The Real Her if just for the Andre 3000 verse.)
Anyway my point is that I really love Gambino and I like Drake enough, but I think like they fall closer together on the spectrum than anyone acknowledges. CG gets so much mad love on the board and Drake gets so much hate, I wanted to hear the thoughts behind it.
Regardless I'm always psyched to hear that people love Gambino as much as they do, so I'm glad everyone is into Camp as much as they are.
Childish Gambino, I think, raps in a very honest way. He brags, he boasts, and raps about some ridiculous sh*t, but I don't doubt that it's how he actually is, or how he's actually feeling. Meanwhile, Drake just comes off as insincere.
... Hate to say it, but your argument is on point -- even though I personally wish Donald Glover would just act.. but the man does his thing on stage with ambition. I can applaud that
So Snoop is going on a six city tour with Wiz Khalifa, where he will literally perform with Wiz. Also, he made a movie with Wiz. All I have to say is this.

I should in some way support Wale cuz he's from DC and all. But dude, "Lotus Flower Bomb" blows. It is the epitome of hypersensitive and gushy hip hop crap. When it's played on the radio I immedately think of this pic.

after Food & Liquor and The Cool he was one of my favorites out there. Lasers, well it had some good songs, was a pretty poor effort. by far the worst he has put out. i havent given up on him, but i really hope the next album he does goes back to his old style. id def check him out live in hopes of hearing material of the first two albums.

To be fair, he has been very outspoken about how the process behind Lasers was nothing like what he had with his first two albums. Atlantic Records apparently forced him into doing stuff he wasn't thrilled about, but he pushed through it to finish the album. In his own words, he put his blood, sweat and tears into The Cool, he said it felt like it was a part of him. He's said that he felt no such connection to Lasers, and I think that lack of emotion is pretty evident on the album.

i know the whole story with atlantic. but even if they made him change the sound, he could of kept his same lyrical content. that being said, knowing what he had to get through to get it released is the reason im willing to give him another chance.
I think Wu-Tang needs to be on the Farm this year late night. They would kill it. Also would love to see Blackstar, Kid Cudi, Devon the dude would fit perfect for roo.
