I was there and I still hate Lante! I don't think you guys fully remember the show. No dancers, no backup singers, just kanye and a animated screen that was supposed to be a space ship (woman's voice) in which he proceeded to mKe out with. He sucked. People in the crowd were pissed because it sucked. He didn't recognize bonnaroo once. Robert Randolph was the best the next day. He had the crowd chanting "kanye sucks".

The big question for me is whether Kanye has moved on. I would love to see him, but he's such a huge bitch, I'm not sure he would consent to play Bonnaroo, when we offended him so much in his eyes. Jay-Z playing last year might make him want to return to prove himself, but who can possibly predict how that man thinks. The secondary question is whether or not it would be an enjoyable set. Even if Kanye came, I guarantee there would be some pissed-off hippies out there that might hold up anti-Kanye signs or throw shit at him. Then, instead of a 4-hour late Kanye, we'd have a Kanye who goes off stage after 5 minutes.

Also, a lot of people say stuff like, "Move on, get over it, etc" when I don't think that's the main point. I wasn't there, so I was unaffected by his no-show, but I kinda think that his actions and responses may be enough to rule him out of any future Bonnaroos. He threw fits, demanded major changes, refused to take the stage, and was a huge debacle. Why would AC/S ever want to work with him, in any capacity, ever again? I know I wouldn't. He insulted the festival through his actions, and through his words afterwards, and has never made the slightest attempt to repair relations, at least publicly. If it was any other artist, especially a minor artist, none of this would have been tolerated. So, although a lot of people have probably taken things a little too personal, and are overly butt-hurt, there is certainly a reasonable argument against his return. If it was up to me, I would definitely love to have him, but if I was Ashley Capps, I would likely feel much different.

Why do the majority of the users on this site enjoy Kanye West? I know nothing of hip-hop, so I could be wrong, but isnt he just another mainstream rapper?

mainstream acts can make good music, one doesnt rule the other out. see: Jay Z
I say just book the Roots for either a pre-headliner or LN spot and book a cpl. extra hip hop acts in the undercard. We don't really need to have a hip hop headliner every year from here on out...
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

Kanye in my opinion is the definition of progression in an artist. Every single one of his albums sounds different from the one before it. That's rare in hip hop.
I have followed 'Ye before he ever dropped an album, and damn near every album is a gem and a lot different from the one before it. People hate on 808's and Heartbreak, and although it's not what I wanted from Kanye it is an amazing album and very heartfelt. Dark Twisted Fantasy's production is >>>> almost anything I've ever heard.
I honestly can't say the same for anyone else in Hip Hop. Sure Jay's BP3 was a different sound than previous albums but it just had too much filler. Kanye RARELY has filler. Puts his heart and soul into his music. Sure he may be a prick, but he makes some damn good music.
Hes not even a good rapper. His biggest song out right now (all of the lights) consists of a verse saying "Mj is dead and im sad, so I hit my girlfriend and she called the police. Then I went to jail and spent money there. Now I'm on my way home and there is someone in my house. I better take him to school."
This is the grand lyrics you all want back? He fucking blows. Everyone shits their pants over his albums and they aren't that great. The only one I ever gave a listen to was graduation and it sucked. It was a cool album for maybe the first 3 listen through and only because of daft punk.
You obviously aren't a hip hop fan. Your telling me you rather have Wayne up there talking a bunch of gibberish or someone like Rick Ross making up stories about how he was some drug king pin?
And All Of The Lights is his single.. have you heard Gorgeous, Power, Dark Fantasy, I Wonder, Addiction, Roses, Hey Mama, Two Words, Get Em High, Spaceship just to name a few... how are you gonna judge someone off of one song?
Oh and All of The Lights is more or less a metaphor for his relationship with the public after the T Swift incident, bet you didn't get that either.

Rick Ross isn't just making up stories, he raps as a persona. "Making up" sounds like he's lying and trying to convince listeners that he is a kingpin, when in reality he's just portraying a character. That is regardless of whether you like Kanye or not.
That being said, I think Kanye sucks, and will never again be welcome at Roo after that 08 debacle. Kanye has some good songs, sure, but he's such a prick that I would never support him. And yes, I've given a lot of his stuff a listen, and I still don't like it, despite the fact that I listen to a lot of hip hop. Granted I haven't heard his newest album, but my roommate at the time listened to 808s nonstop when it came out, so I know it really well. There are few hip hop acts I'd pick over Kanye for roo. I can't even think of one off the top of my head.
To each his own I guess. Cudi on that hook though.... !
I'm a huge hip hop fan and honestly though I wouldn't rank Kanye in my top 10 rappers, or even 15. He's not the greatest lyricist by any means. But I do enjoy listening to him more than most rappers today. I mean Eminem is top 5 easily, but his show was so garbage... from everything I've seen and heard Kanye puts on a great show.

I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying, I wasn't implying that Kanye wasnt good or that Jay Z was better, just refuting the statement asking how can inforoo'ers like mainstream music by saying mainstream doesn't equal bad music.
I enjoy Kanye and would welcome his atonement of sins at Roo

It seems like for the first time, there are a greater number of Pro-Kanye's than Anti-Kanye's around here. Now, Inforoo isn't the entire Bonnaroo population, but still, it's progress. Normally a thread like would have been a lighting rod to all the Kanye-haters out there.
Wasn't really reading it like anything ha ha not sure why I chose to quote your post.
Honestly IDK how mainstream I even consider Kanye anymore. Sure he has songs that everybody knows. But people who are casual listeners will swear Lil Wayne makes better music when in reality Wayne's music has zero substance.
I just don't get why so many people hate Kanye, sure he's a prick.. but no matter what I'll always listen to him That's just me I guess.

Not all of Wayne's music has zero substance. Just a lot of it.
