Insider FTW!!!! I go away from this site for a few hours and come back to not only Phish being confirmed but that we're getting one if not two from the RH/Foo's/RHCP/BB camp!!!
BOOYAA!!!! And GL you can count me amongst those pumped for the Phish confirm, you might need two hands and a foot now
btw... the beach boys are by far. by far. more important and a bigger name than buffalo springfield. it is with absolute certainty that i say this. and this fact by no means. by no means. makes the beach boys of 2012 a more interesting or entertaining band to see in 2012

My vote is ask about RHCP. They're the only ones I would be sad to have. I've had a deep hatred for them for my entire life, but they do have that one Rollercoaster song that's not terrible. Ugh. They are the worst.
rage is better riot music. just curious if u saw the tragically hip at woodstock 99. one of my favorite bands and they are quacking huge in canada but not too big in the states
I did not see them -- but its funny you mention them cause a buddy of mine from buffalo gave me grief for not seeing them.

i dont think their albums even chart in the states but they have the most #1 album debuts in canadian history. like more then elvis or the beatles in canada
An Insider hit and run. I feel like she already told us Phish. I so want her to give us one more tonight. I would love mostly for her to say,"Radiohead". But that's probably asking too much.
I am completely stoked to have Phish confirmed for Bonnaroo. Thank you insider! i'm really glowing over here. for a few brief hours i am just going to enjoy this wave of contentment that makes me not even care who else is headlining, because i know everything will be awesome and wonderful.
having said that a radiohead confirmation would be sweet.
as one of the three people here that likes RHCP I wouldn't mind catching them again. in fact I'm bummed that the 2/4/12 show got rescheduled to a date i won't be able to make. having said that I just have a feeling they'll be at hangout. if they are at hangout i wouldn't want to catch them again a few weeks later in manchester.
here's my take on the beach boys / buffalo springfield debate: to a student of music (like most of us here) the reunited beach boys are obviously a very big deal. pet sounds is the archetypical pop album, and it is a timeless and stunning achievement. listening to pet sounds gives me a feeling only equatable to listening to the beatles, if that makes any sense.
having said that, I feel that the beach boys "brand", or in other words how it appeals to the mass consumption music population, has been diluted by the "county fair" or "casino" version of the Beach Boys that the population has grown accustomed to seeing over the past years. To someone not in the know, seeing The Beach Boys on a lineup of a major festival is like "yeah they played the beau rivage last year". on the other hand seeing buffalo springfield is a big time reunion, and anyone with even a passing knowledge of rock history knows thats a big deal.
so what I'm saying is i see them in a similar slot to buffalo springfield, not in a big headliner slot. just my opinion.
i find myself being insanely greedy when Insider posts every year, and i have to take a breath and remind myself that she's doing us a favor And I shouldnt be greedy and demand more out of her!
Also, jakicker, you are a pessimist, no? I mean, I get where you're coming from - the last few headliner line ups for Roo (IMO) haven't been CRAAAZY awesome. Hits and misses. But to say that the "ideal situation" should be eliminated, or that there would be "too many high name acts" is really putting Bonnaroo in a box right? A box where Roo can't have an epic lineup like Coach, or Sas, or ACL or name-of-other-fest-here? A poop box, if you will. I just can't agree with that. But, Im an eternal optimist, so I hope for the best (see: ideal situation). I dont think it' out of the scope for RH to be there, WITH Phish (please Jesus, no double night) and RHCP. They're all touring. Why would they say no to money? To a festival where they LOVE to play (RH) or where they've NEVER played and could secure new fans or you know, make some money (RHCP)? I will continue to put out the good vibrations (ha! see what i did there?!) for RH and/or any other possible headliners named here.

I do love Phish though and everything they bring to Bonnaroo. I know it has been said several times but I think they will be filling the preheadliner and headliner spot Sunday.
Thanks Insider. I am pumped to see Phish on the farm again. As for the vote, mark me down for RHCP. It's like ripping off a Bandaid, let's just get it over with.

A top line of Phish-Foos-Beach Boys would be a humongous yawn. I like Phish fine, but that's a pretty weak crop of headliners. Although Beach Boys will not be unopposed. I think its up in the air how many shows Phish gets, but I wouldn't be surprised with either scenario playing out. Phish could still play two shows with a top line of Radiohead - Phish - Foo. Foo really doesn't need more than 2 hours or so, and could still be unopposed, with the Phish set having all the late night conflicts.
Oh yea, I vote to ask about Radiohead, lets just get it out of the way.
Dude, you should check out Freaky Styley by them. i think it came it in '84 or '85 or somethin. i got the record; it's great stuff. Produced by George Clinton, super funky and ahead of its time!
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Why is everybody convinced Phish is doing 2 nights? They won't. They'll just be closing out the fest on Sunday. If we get rhcp or foo, they'd likely be the Friday night headliner. Which brings us to the question, who the F is playing Saturday night? Radiohead could but I'd expect a really mainstream act or a giant classic artist. Gaga, Prince, Elton John, McCartney...

and i didn't feel like we should ask about radiohead. i'm most excited about them and don't want to have to wonder whether or not my dreams are going to come true. i don't want to be led on a wild goose chase only to find out it's the foo fighters. i respect them n' all but not really my jam.
